For the past five decades, the Council on Social Work Education’s Minority Fellowship Program has been steadfast in shaping the future of social work professionals, nurturing their skills and knowledge. This milestone celebration marks the rich history and legacy of the MFP, which has significantly contributed to addressing pressing concerns in mental health and substance use. MFP fellows continue to make significant contributions in these vital areas of social work, supported by the program's commitment to providing fellowships to Master of Social Work (MSW), Doctor of Social Work (DSW), and PhD students in social work.
Throughout 50 years, MFP has supported more than 800 social work students. Funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), the program offers essential resources to current social work students, helping them find their voices as social workers and tackle the challenges of both academia and professional practice.
