CSX 1973 Chessie System

After a very long wait, CSX has finally accepted every railfans request to paint heritage units! This is CSX 1973. “Chessie System.” the number “1973” pays tribute to the year chessie was founded.

Good thing I put it on a post and also reported it on Heritage units. Just heard it depart from Pottersburg on an online scanner and decided to go out for it. Nice catch!

While it is a "different" enough approach to heritage schemes that it takes a bit to get used to CSX deserves a ton of credit for joining the railroad heritage fleet fraternity. Now we get to look for the just released Seaboard unit!

At first I wasn’t sure how I felt about their choice in leaving the front CSX. Now that I have seen this unit in person, I love it. It stands out from the rest of the heritage units and I think that CSX is getting wayyyyy too much hate for these. They are really cool units

Love the paint scheme and love the backlit shot with the sun glare, really cool!!! Props to CSX for stepping up and doing a legit throwback scheme, BNSF needs to do this with some of the old BN and SF schemes! And 1973, the year I was born so gotta love the unit number! Great video man! It's an interesting unit to say the least. I think it should've been painted all the way down, but I'm happy that CSX made heritage units now! Definitely a unit worth seeking out. Can't wait for the Seaboard unit to join the fleet!

I wasn’t super thrilled when they didn’t paint the nose but I’m definitely okay with it now after seeing it in person. Never judge until you see them in person. It also keeps the units different from the rest. Thanks for watching

I think the heritage paint schemes that CSX did are on backwards, it should be the whole engine painted original railroad colors. Not just the back.
