<a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="564">9:24</a> There are more locomotives on CSX's roster in YN2 than the AC4400's. There's a handful of reactivated Dash 8's in YN2, along with a few EMD's, including SD40-2 8482 which I have seen in person. I believe it's the last one though, because 8484 was repainted into YN3C last year. The AC4400's definitely have the most units still in YN2 though, and with the repaints and rebuilds, they are continuing to become harder and harder to find. I also agree with you about the GEVOs. In my opinion, they are extremely overrated, especially the later ones and the Tier 4 units. However, I think the earlier DC units are a little less overrated, because recently I've caught a few with K5LA's, and I love the First Gen K5HL's that most of them have. Several also have K5HLA's and 5284 has a K5HLB which sounds like an M5, along with 5288. Both of those are high on my bucket list. There are also some later GEVOs that have K5HLA's, like 808 and 969, and also a couple Tier 4's that have nice horns. 3310 has a fantastic Narrow Font K5LA, while 3349 has an also Fantastic First Gen K5HL.

Correction on the GP39-2's: CSX has 18 on its roster. 4316 was wrecked in Florida last year, and 4316 is in preservation. Their heritage is very interesting, as all of them were built for the Reading, but some also went to the Delaware and Hudson before being sold to CSX! They also hold a special place in my heart, because I saw 4306 leading M657 back in February! I feel that the 39's are super underrated, because everyone knows the 38 and 40 series, but few people know about these. They deserve more love, especially because they're very, very rare nowadays. You should do an episode of Engines of CSX covering these interesting engines.

I don't see why people are hating on these, they're not that bad. And it's giving these aging EMDs a new chance at life considering the EPA wants to get rid of them since they don't have tier 4 emission requirements, but now these ET23s do. And they're not really gevos inside, just a GE 6 cylinder diesel.

I think the CSX DC GEVOs are slightly ahead also because of mechanical bells as opposed to E bells

As of this video on Saturday, August 5 CSX release the first two SD70 flared radiator Mac rebuilds from the Huntington, West Virginia shops 4771 and 4767. Many more to come.

Regarding the Tier 4 ACes, they did go to Mexico for lease to Ferromex, along with the iconic “Bananas” and “Blackberries” from EMDX. However, out of the 7 or 8 PRLX ex-CSXT Tier 4 ACes in Mexico, one of them, PRLX 8908, actually escaped from Mexico and is now on BNSF. I actually caught it with a friend of mine back in January. It’s currently on the Miller, AL coal trains.

It's about time somebody did a tier list on my favorite railroad roadname CSX. Personally I'd put the gevo at the top of S tier, instead of D tier because they're my favorite locomotive due to how powerful they are on the rails, and the K5HL horns that they blast at crossings. I know there's majority of them running on the roster, but I feel like it's partially deserved due to their great efficiency.💙💛
