CT Angiography is an imaging test that looks at the arteries that supply blood to the heart. It uses a powerful X-ray machine to produce images of the heart and its blood vessels. The test is used to diagnose a variety of heart conditions.
CT Angiography has become very popular as it helps people to avoid any kind of surgery or stents at a low cost. CT Angiography uses a dye that contains iodine, a substance that x-rays cannot pass through. This dye does not cause any kind of allergy in 99% of the patients.
Before you get a CT Angiography remember that your kidney must be in a good condition, your heart rate should be more than 70%, you must not eat anything 3 hours before the scan, and wear loose clothes.
The amount of radiation in a CT Angiography is very low.

I am a senior press Reporter, residing in Durgapur West Bengal. I have done my AVR ( bioprosthtic) in 2014. At present I have slight breathing problem to go to upstairs. My cardiologist advice me to angiography through my hand. I told him for advice me for CT Angio. But my Dr told me CT is not perfect for me, because CT not showing actual report. What I do sir?

Dr, I have a stent inserted in my LAD 6 years ago. I have done 4 - 5 CT angiography after stenting and the latest one can't show a clearer picture of the LAD, suspicious 50% of plaque .But cardiologist dnt advise CT angiography after stenting as it won't give a accurate reading as there is already a stent in it.
