The CT Energy Network and People's Action for Clean Energy (PACE) cosponsored a webinar on August 29, 2023.
The ability of residents of CT’s homeowners’ associations (HOAs) and Planned Unit Developments (PUDs) to install solar on their own roofs is evolving. The passage of the state Clean Air Act in 2022 has streamlined the process by which PUD homeowners, for example, can go solar, although the executive boards of such communities can impose some reasonable restrictions.
To help us understand what is possible-and what’s not-under this new statute, we have arranged a panel of experts offering a range of perspectives. This event will address questions such as:
• Who is covered by the 2022 legislation and who is not?
• How can HOA boards implement this legislation?
• What are my rights as a resident of such a community?
• What’s left to do in the upcoming legislative session?
Members of Connecticut's homeowners associations are benefitting from the advocacy work of the CT Chapter of the Community Associations Institute (CAI). Among other priorities, the CAI supports environmental policies that advance sustainability for community association residents.
Our speakers for the August 29th webinar are:
• Andrea Dunn, a lawyer specializing in condo law, and vice-chair of the CT Community Associations Institute’s legislative advocacy committee.
• Jeff Currey, State Representative for East Hartford & Manchester. Representative Currey is working with fellow legislators to advance access to solar.
• Tom Meek, President and former Treasurer of the Powder Forest Homes Association in Simsbury, CT.
