I watched your other video where Joe used it. I think he had a split-tail on that demo. I have a DRT using a DMM HITCHCLIMBER ECCENTRIC. But when hunting I prefer the Split-tail & I'm looking to convert to my Pinto Pulley as a tending device. I'm tired of making a termination knot on the end of my split-tail & then tieing the tail end of it to a prusik for self tending. Just not as clean as using an extra carabiner which I can always use some of my stealth strip material that I have a ton of. Thanks for the great tips Scott 👍.

@@NYSaddleHunter Sir quick question. I see nice arborist saddles for prices about the same as hunting harness. I see the hunting saddles are quiter.... but the arborist saddle can be converted. Are the arborist saddles as comfortable?

Joe was running that new static line with no split-tail. That way on the carabiner attached to his bridge he had his factory sewn mini loop next to the 2 eye to eye hitchcord that he attached with a Swabish. I'm going to use my split-tail since my Fusion carabiner is perfect to attach my tiny Beeline eye & my Predator loop to. I will also try a double eye hitchcord using a Michoacon.

Could you use the roll n lock in place of the Blake’s hitch without tearing your rope all up
@NYSaddleHunter2 жыл бұрын
No . It’s not intended for use as a hitch in a moving rope system. Only in tending mode . For a single line as a tether for a rope grab. Yes ! I would not recommend using it in place of a Gri Gri either . Even though it has the highest load rating in the micro class. It should still be used in conjunction with a backup hitch cord when used in a life support situation !!!

@@NYSaddleHunter I see videos on climbing channels where they use the ropeman this way. And I have been using the ropeman this way. I use a rolling Clive hitch as my backup and use the ropeman in place of a prusic or hitch cord.

@@terrycalvert7812 I see it as well. I just don’t advise people to do it. We just posted a article written on this very subject and how the climbing industry doesn’t support the idea of using micro’s as life support devices If you back it up with a additional rope hitch it’s a safer choice. Also these micro will destroy your rope over time. A true ascender and descender devise uses a smooth cam to Jam the rope , not a toothed cam
I had one. It's great as a pulley mode, but when it's on lock pulley mode andt under load its a pain to release the lever.

All the micros are like that. I actually prefer it to be on my lines man’s rope than my tether for that reason. There more dependable taking up slack and releasing it on a linesman

It appears that you are just using the pulley function and that you are not using the rope-grab function of the device. I can see how you could also use the device as a rope grab in place of your Blake's hitch to climb your rope, but you'd have to switch to some other device to descend.
@NYSaddleHunter2 жыл бұрын
Well aware of that, I was just pointing out the other feature of this device is that it is an awesome hitch tender, as far as a rope grab feature goes.. its preferred method is to be used on your tree tether as a positioning device. It should not be used in place of a blakes hitch or other ascending or descending hitches. A Petzel Gri Gri + or the Mad Rock Safe Guard is a better choice for ascending and descending- they have a much higher rating than the CT Roll N Lock for life support.

Hey I just installed a Rollnlock as a bridge adjuster, I'm having a little trouble with it. Check out 1:30 of my last video kzbin.info/www/bejne/al6Qh3t6pJmKjKs
