The scan is actually really quick! It can feel a little tight in there though....

Would love a similar episode on MRI and maybe fMRI? Would be interesting with why MRI not CT etc? Also keep up the great videos!

We've got an illustrated blog post on MRI at Www.realbrainbook.co.uk/MRI The only problem is you can't take metal into the MRI room otherwise it gets sucked into it... So no camera!

Very interesting! I had a bad accident yesterday, good thing there was no fractures or any other damage, and I started to wonder, how does a CT scan work. Very informative! Excuse my english.

What's happening when they scan you first without the scanner spinning, and then again with it spinning? That contrast whew, what a feeling you get as its injected, glad it doesn't last long.

I think the first time it spins it creates something like an xray so the radiographers can see what exactly they're scanning. I may be wrong though. Is it true that the contrast gives a very weird feeling of needing to go?

@@Brainbook found out the first pass is called a scout scan, like you said to get things lined up. Yes the contrast makes the groin area suddenly feel very warm, like you voided your bladder. The tech told me what to expect so it wasn't too much of a surprise.

Thanks so much for this info Gordon. I knew about the setting thing but didn't know if it was medical myth or not!

You would be astonished about the mass the rotor which has the Xray tube and the detectors on it has and how fast it can rotate. Luckily we cannot see it as it is inside the housing ;-)

I have thought that before and it scares the hell out of me

I remember going In this when I was hit by a car. The liquid they put in your vein gives you a weird warm sensation as if you weed yourself. Clever how these machines work
