For anyone watching who has had this surgery recommended, but is nervous about doing it. Don't worry, just go for it. The results are immediate and you will get your life back. Obviously make sure you go to a good hospital and speak to an experienced surgeon, but as the video demonstrates, it's not actually a complex operation. It can be frightening because of the location, but it's a fairly quick operation and you can usually go home the same day or the following day. In my case my recovery involved absolute rest for 2 weeks, followed by daily 1 hour physio sessions for 2 weeks, then exercises at home for a month. After that, I was basically back to normal.

Coz I have the same issue and consulted 2 doctors, one suggested to go with PLIF and the other doctor suggested this one, microdisectomy. It's great - 6* video - well presented, easy to understand, helpful to patients etc. It shows how to remove the leaked gel that press the nerve that cause the pain. I just wonder if there is any similar video for the cervical spine and the leaked gel does not press the nerve but press the spine cord. I think it may be more difficult to take the leaked gel out because it is deeper inside; and it more dangerous because it is right behind the spine cord . . . So how is this done? Many many thanks for all this and many other videos, Tony

Hello. I am sharing my experience here. I have herniated disc at L5-S1 and L4-L5. I had pain since 2 months almost. At the beginning I had pain and stiffness in back when i woke up in the morning. After a month i went to the doc and was diagnosed with disc herniation. I got an epidural steroid shot, but it did not work. After few days the pain started to radiate to left leg, till last monday it became so severe that i couldn't even sit or walk upright. Main pain points were back of thigh and calves. So I went again and got micro-discectomy last thursday. The moment i woke up after surgery the pain was gone. I felt relieved. I have been advised be rest for 6 weeks or so. So far so good. I'll update future events Feel free to ask any questions if you have.

God, I wish my surgery had been successful, if I were able to go to this clinic. But I also have other conditions causing extreme pain. I’ve been on prescription pain meds, but that only helps for a while. And steroid injections relieves pain for a few days, not weeks. It’s hard to explain to loved one and friends the pain I ‘m experiencing and maybe this video will help them understand. I hate it when people respond with, “Oh, I have back pain, too.” I’m 53, and after failed back surgery, pain rules my life. Even before Covid19, My mobility was limited, so I’ve been in self-isolation for almost four years. It’s depressing to know I will never live another day without pain.

I'm so sorry for you. I also have herniated discs (two, to be exact) and have been feeling pain for over 8 months. I know how painful sciatica is, and the desperation of trying to fix it, as we'd try whatever we can to solve this problem. My aunt also had a very similar problem to yours, and she had to do another surgery, with different doctors, to relieve her pain. She can now function the way she used to, before her first operation. I hope someday you'll feel relieved of your pain. No one deserves to suffer this pain.

Be strong my friend, I see you already are, you have every right to be broken yet you’re still here and still living and that’s what I’m talking about. Even with a failed surgery, you’re still a champion, Cuz you didn’t fail them THEY failed you. Like I said stay strong my guy, keep them ice/hot packs, get you a spinedeck, do what you gotta do to ! Studies show herniated disc can recover on its own by 3 to 12 months, if you take out the herniated nucleus , the disc becomes flat and will this speed up the regeneration of the facet joint on the level and cause facet OA?
@klvinchen44675 жыл бұрын
I mean degeneration of facet joint
@AtlanticSpineCenter5 жыл бұрын
Conservative treatment is always the first line of treatment and with several different approaches-and for several months. Unfortunately for some, those treatments fail. Most time the patient chooses the surgery because the patient has run out of non-surgical options and cannot bear to live with the pain any longer. Although there may be some flattening of the disc, the benefit of reaching relief from months of agonizing back pain outweighs this possible risk factor for these patients.

@@AtlanticSpineCenter So I'm on my 4th day after this exact Surgery. I was up and walking unaided as soon as the anesthesia wore of. When I first came to, I wanted the nurse to shoot me in post op lol. She turned me around onto my good side and I fell in love with her lol. Anyhoo. I got released the next day because of my age, and condition. See I knew this op was a 50/50 chance of actually happening so I joined a Gym and lost 6 stone over 10 months and reshaped my body into muscle. Hence my speedy recovery. I was actually dehydrated preop....🥶🥶🥶 The pain WAS exhausting and scary at times, because I live alone. Overall I feel my quality of life improving as we speak I'll post back in a few days after my weekly checkup in my GPs. I would accept this operation again without haste.

@yogeshkumar-rn1pm7 жыл бұрын
what is the chances of getting again disc blug on same previous treated disc? after taken this type of treatment a patient can do start a light weight gym ? plz suggest me
@AtlanticSpineCenter7 жыл бұрын
Discs can bulge again. Prevention is key. Follow your doctor’s or physical therapy recommendations on the best care for the discs in your back to reduce pressure and strain. If you like to work out at the gym, first learn techniques that strengthen the muscles that support the back including back muscles, shoulder muscles and core abdominal muscles and be very aware of your posture when you work-out at all times. Consult with a certified trainer at the gym before returning to your work out and explain your injury or back problem to them. Going back to the gym after a procedure depends on your doctor’s recommendations, which procedure you have had and in what location. An endoscopic (minimally invasive) procedure, such as in this video, will not take as long to return to your normal routine as an open procedure would. A good comfort level to start back to exercising on your own is around 6 weeks, but physical therapy guided exercises should come first and a Physical Therapist can usually get you started as early as 2-4 weeks.

What is the success rate of this surgery. Will doctor fix artificial disk at removed place to not to bulge in further.
@AutoBodyEverything4 жыл бұрын
They’ll tell you basically 100% on removing the herniation, but as far as everything else that’s a contributing factor like the persons weight or breast size or age or what you do for work. So many things play a factor that it’s more about the guarantee of a better quality of life or reversing the damage and be how you were prior to your situation.
