I am a writer for an upcoming indie dev team working on some Lovecraftian inspired games and as I listen to this all, I find myself in a rain-drowned New England coastal town, crawling through damp caves trying to sneak around cultists, and ankle deep in lapping waves as something within the waves calls to me. This is fantastic. I will have your video on repeat through much of my projects. Looking forward to more wonderful music from you. Your composition is inspirational.

bro as someone who has spent the last year living in the area he wrote about and inspired his stories I can tell you it's as creepy as you think when the fog rolls in it's thick can barely see a foot in front of you but one thing you got wrong it's all sand there's not enough solid ground in most places for even proper drainage systems so if you're exploring any thing like a cave it's most likely a sewer system or storm drains. Love the image you created but hopefully this knowledge helps you create something more realistic after all the realer it is the creepier the Lovecraftian stuff becomes. Something is definitely in the water down there btw not saying it's Lovecraftian but the people are strange.
@Nat20Cartography9 ай бұрын
@@mattedmands2085 I appreciate the input and I do thank you for it! I have personally found that being realistic does not necessarily equal creepier; taking inspiration from reality but leaning into the non-real, the fantastic and the terrifying at the edge of human perception is the very core of Lovecraftian writing. To say it's 'all sand' is reductive. There are plenty of rocky cliffs along the New England coastline that lead to caves, and the use of cliffs and caves symbolically fits into much of the core of Lovecraft's work. It all ties into anxiety and fear of the unknown, and fits thematically and metaphorically within the concepts! That said, I really do appreciate the input! The comment I left was moreso covering the images that Danny was invoking with his music in my mind, rather than the thing I was working on :) I'm always open to receiving differing points of view.

Tbh, they sound so similar to each other, like generic thriller movie soundtrack, not enough of 'disturbing' chops, Bloodborne music for example, are the best at this kind of lovecraftian music, it's despair, it's chaos, it's madness, it's epic too
@danny-music64068 ай бұрын
Thank you for your feedback. I appreciate your perspective. This is my first time delving into such music, and I understand it may not reach the intensity of Bloodborne. Your feedback is valuable, and I will consider it as I approach similar projects in the future.
