F150... your air-cond temp or small leak problem..... just got done with one of those last week.... did same diagnoses as you did but we found a 'blend door' broken ! Did Scan tool testing of doors ....Yep... took out entire dash to repair it...

Yeah, a couple of them require dash removal. But his one loses a half point of refrigerant over about a year so far. Thanks

Is the old caddy ever going to go home, he needs to start with one with no rust. Their is a red 70 something caddy convertible for sale in bullhead city AZ that looks like a 10 on the pictures for only 7000

He hasn’t been able to pay the dish bill from a year and a half ago. So it’s been sitting collecting storage. Basically scrap at this point. :/

Where did you buy the bed cover and how much was it? The are 30 to 40 sitting at dealer waiting on short blocks here. Good luck.
@JimmyMakingitwork
@JimmyMakingitwork 3 ай бұрын
We are a rough country dealer and the bed cover is $649. None of our local dealers have any waiting for parts or repair, including where I bought mine. Last check it was 824 out of 400,000+.

How many years is your lease? I use to lease a Town Car every 2 years. Ford had a red carpet lease, but now they are to long. Then i didn't have trade in after all that. I bought my last lease car. Paid way to much to keep the car .

You would be surprised, I’ve worked for Hyundai/Kia, GM and now Honda/Acura and none of them dye AC systems from the factory. I really think they should, but I know they don’t, and I’ve never heard of one that did
@JimmyMakingitwork
@JimmyMakingitwork 3 ай бұрын
Yeah, I know the newer 1234yf don’t. But I thought the 134a systems usually did. Have to see some unmolested ones. Been a while since I’ve worked on anything fairly New. Thanks.

😛 60 odd thousand miles on 3 different trucks....thats just over 20k per truck....even he's not taking chances :)

He works for Toyota and gets a new truck to drive each year. He has his 3rd since the new version came out now. Toes a boat, road trips, daily drive to work is 80 miles. So 20,000 plus a year on each one.

If that F150 does turn out to be a slow leak and not a cooling fan off hot a/c issue, check the compressor shaft seal. 10mm on the face of it ( most likely will require channel locks because ford threadlocks them ) and if its bad enough it'll be stained with dye.
@JimmyMakingitwork
@JimmyMakingitwork 3 ай бұрын
Yeah they do like to leak there, but this one is clean. I think it’s the evaporator, we will see once it gets warm again and try to find dye once more.

Those fold up bed covers are awesome. Sometimes an open bed can be an advantage. I had a load of scrap in the bed. When I emptied it I found 3 Gearwrench ratcheting flex head wrenches that someone threw in there. They are now in my tool box. 🙂🙂

Those bump outs on the Tundra frame are probably to help prevent cab intrusion in a "small overlap" crash.

They usually are not designed to be 100% water proof, but to keep the contents of the bed mostly dry. Leaks around the edges and sometimes hinge areas are common on all but the most expensive versions. The roll up ones among the driest. I have a full video of my install releasing in about a week.
