In this episode we install the Cts-V brake upgrade on the G8.
Calipers: 89047726 & 89047727
Rotors: 92213817
Caliper pin kit: 89047711
Caliper bolt: 18041878
Studs: 610-490

Great video, this is an easy and cheap upgrade for any G8 owner. If I could make one suggestion though it would be to flush the brake fluid before changing the calipers. That is so you don’t get the old dirty fluid going through your new calipers.

Doing this for my 97 Z28. I had trouble trying to find a company advertising CTS-V stainless Brake lines. Ever since Covid started, Flynebye stopped answering there phone (Just goes to a fax machine noise). Kore 3 luckily still answers there phone and took my order. So far nobody makes a rear mounting plate for swapping to rear cts-v calipers but I'm not sweating it cause luckily Baer makes a 13 inch brake rotor upgrade for 93-97 Fbody's that uses the factory calipers and helps provide more braking torque. But it's mostly a looks upgrade cause rear brakes only provide 10-15% of braking power on a front engine rear wheel drive car. Probably front wheel drive cars as well.

All you needed to do with the studs is put a stack of washers on it and tighten down the nut it will pull it right in

Would the 6 piston V2 Calipers bolt right on the front on the G8?

Is the spacer necessary if I were to use CTS-V2 sedan wheels on all four corners? I also have all four brembos from that car too. Going to swap it on my wife's V6 G8. I already swapped the G8 GT calipers/brackets and she is running those with GT sized rotors currently.

How does the brakes feel. Does it actually stop the car faster or do they just make the brake pedal modulate better? I know these brakes will help out in brake fade making it take longer to overheat while on the Roadcoarse. Don't know if Autocrossing heats braking components up (Even Stock Brakes) do to them being set mostly in parking lots.

Great tips. What would be the different set ups available to upgrade the Base V6 brakes (front and rear) with either a GT or GXP parts that would also fit the 18" stock twin spoke wheels?

I'll have to look into that. The Brembos probably won't fit the 18s I think. And I'm not sure if the GTs have different front brakes, the rears are the same. Could always use a better pad/rotor as upgrade, Like a EBC or hawk setup.

Then bleeding that style of brembo caliper you need to bleed the inside bleeder followed by the outside bleeder.

Great video. I my self have a V6 and I plan on doing the exact same set up. I have aftermarket 19s on now, I'm just worried the set won't match the bolt pattern of the caliper bolt holes. Any advice? Thanks in advance

You don't have to remove the hub assembly to replace studs. Air hammer makes the job a lot easier than a punch and hammer too.

I have 2010 SS Camaro wheels on my base and don’t need wheel spacers. Otherwise you should get them the wheel offset on the stock G8 wheels are too shallow.

No you dont need the wheel spacer either

So you say use a 12mm wheel spacer? U stacked two 7mm and that gave you 14 and it’s still pretty close you sure just a 12mm will work??curious

12mm will work just fine. I later got a smaller spacer instead of stacking two.

i know this is late but ive heard upgrading the rears give the car better feel and it doesn't nose dive as much more equalized braking
