I live south of Kelowna. What people don't realise is this fire is perfectly normal. Before BC was settled, an average of 10% of the Province burned every year. Yes, this fire is sensational, but these fires have been happening ever since the glaciers receded.

Where were the waterbombers? We produce the best in the world, but stopped production in 2015 (note that date), and most of what we have is in -- guess where -- Quebec. If necessary, he said, Ottawa would try to acquire additional equipment from other countries." 🤮I guess Blair was wrong... 😐And here we are, ''trying' (more like scrambling, because Public Safety couldn't be bothered to set it up ahead of time...) and paying other countries to do something we should be experts at. After billions in 'carbon' taxes have been levied on Canadians and flushed down the toilet of Liberal -- aided by the NDP and Bloc -- deficits, this is what we get. How's your 'equity and inclusion' now? Everyone burns together? Coniferous forest, aka turpentine bombs, permitted to establish itself in town is done with the full realization that nature is going to take its usual course and consume aging trees with fire in order to make way for new growth, as it has been doing since the beginning of time. A town should not embrace trees to an extent that they form a virtual grove contiguous with wild forest. Old trees should be replaced with new plantings when land is developed. There are some that greatly resent the use of a land by citizens that was not promised to them whose ulterior motive in seeking office is to curb this practice. Forest on it may not be disturbed no matter how great a hazard it poses to habitations. The detrimental effect of placing a halt on the use of land includes homes consumed by fire, home prices skyrocketing beyond reach, rents that exceed incomes, desperation and homelessness.

the Okanagan is a literal desert. On top of that this past week has been nearly 40 degrees celsius every day. And yes lots of trees and forest and dry grass. Most of canada is forest and not anywhere near as developed or populated as in the USA.

This is so sad and devastating… Some of my family left for vacation on Sunday to Kelowna,as we go every year..
