I have the same blower and it easily throws snow 50-75 feet it’ll dig through 3 foot of fresh snow with ease and when there’s not a lot of snow you just put it in high gear and send it and it will throw it equal distance

Nash Shepherd these require a lot of snow to work properly. Speed it up and it will throw better. I have the same model and it will plow 20+ inches easily and throw it 40 ft.

Travis, great and honest video. I was going to buy a 3 stage Cub Cadet until I did lots of research and read reviews of owners that had experience with their 3 stage machines. Many are disappointed with the overall performance especially in wet snow. My take on the 3-stage system? Not worth the extra money it takes to buy one. The snow blower I ended up buying is a Toro Power Max HD 1232 which can throw snow 57 plus feet in the right snow conditions. It also has the patented no clog system to deal with wet snow. Funny thing about some snow blower owners is it's like a Chevy verse Ford rival based on brand. Who cares what color the machine is. What matters is it does what it is supposed to do. Move lots of snow easily and as efficiently as possible. To me, that is what makes a good snow blower. And that is why videos like yours are important. I watched many videos and read many reviews of pros and cons before deciding on which snow blower to purchase. The outdoor equipment dealer close to me gave me many options. Cub Cadet, Troy Bilt, Honda and Toro. I also researched Ariens and Simplicity snow blowers. I opted to stay away from any machine with auto steer, due to once again negative reviews in adverse conditions, which I deal with when clearing snow. For me, the trigger steer was the best option. To each their own, I can only share what works best for my situation. Keep up the informative videos. You base your opinions on your experience with whatever machine you are testing. Like many other testing videos out there, it is up to you the individual which machine will work best for your application. And which machine is the most ergonomically correct for your needs. Happy snow blowing everyone.

Last year in March we got hit with 9 inches of extremely wet heavy snow. It was my first chance to try out my new Toro Power Max HD 1232 in really wet snow. I was blowing the mess for about an hour and never even a hint of clogging. Blowing distance was on average of 40 to 50 feet. My neighbor's machines were struggling to blow the stuff. I even took out my 1980 Toro 524 with an impeller kit and 10 feet was the best it could do in that nasty wet stuff. If one wants a snow blower that gets the job done in any snow condition, stick with a HD two stage unit with 14-inch impeller and auger system. My 1232 HD in the right snow conditions can blow snow 57 feet plus. Step up to the 1432 HD and you can blow snow over 60 feet. Or you can all out and buy a track drive Honda with all the bells and whistles.

When there is only a few inches of snow try letting some snow build up in the chute before running the auger and it will throw much farther. Keep repeating on and off with the auger as you go.

I just used my new Ariens 30" only 306CC EFI threw the snow over 50 feet! I was amazed how far it threw the snow. Should have bought an Ariens!
@travis60156 жыл бұрын
I did consider the Ariens 30". Went and had a look at it. It does have great reviews. For my wife and myself tho there was a few things we didn't like about the Ariens. 1. The weight+the handle positioning made it harder to maneuver. 2. The discharge shute adjustment placement on last year's model, as well as the huge floppy 2018 version. 3. The constant wheel displacement 4. They discontinued the original engine and have decided to use a Briggs and Stratton now. Which Briggs does have a good rep but with any change comes new issues. 5. No payment plans nor 0%interest 6. Plus $700 more. There were other things as well but those were a few things that turned me to Husqvarna which has been a beast, I super happy with it. Thanks for your comment and keep on snow throwing;)

You bought a snow blower that is optimized for deep snow. You are not going to experience long snow throwing until you clear 8 to 14 inches of fresh snow. My 24" Cub Cadet Snow Thrower throws long because it is optimized for longer snow throws in two to five inches of snow. You got a good machine. You might have bought too much snow blower for your needs.
@matthewb70495 жыл бұрын
Yeah. Notice how it starts throwing it further when you hear that engine go under a load. We just got one of the same blowers and you cant feed the thing fast enough, put it into 5th gear n see how far it will throw and how easy it will keep up. It needs snow to blow. Not to mention it would help if the chute wasnt pretty much horizontal with the ground.
@jamesorsby75534 жыл бұрын
@@matthewb7049 Yeah, I noticed that too. It's designed for the deeper snows. I saw a video of someone in Canada using this same machine in a 22inch deep snowfall, and it consistently threw up to 40-50ft. Maybe the guy should have bought their 30inch dual stage version; it's pretty good too.

Put that snow blower in deep snow and watch what happens! I've been using a Cub Cadet 3X 28 for 3 years now and I can tell you for a fact it can launch some snow. A two stage, or a power broom, may have done better in your video conditions, but 3" of wet snow isn't going to go far unless you modify the discharge impeller and close the gap between the impeller and chute. I use my snow blower along with my John Deere tractor and plow. I plow the driveway to the edges with the tractor ,and clear the plowed snow with the snow blower. I'm generally blowing 12"- 18" deep snow. I also cut paths with it to get the dogs out to the wood line in the winter. The Cub Cadet, 3X series, is not a commercial machine by any means, and there are more robust blowers available, but for the $1099 I spent on mine at Tractor Supply, I've been very happy with it.
@travis60156 жыл бұрын
Michael Cutler Thanks for your thoughts. I totally agree with you, this machine shines and is at its best in deep snow. I just needed a machine that fit my needs a bit better. Thanks for watching and for your thoughts👍

Bought a Cub Cadet 3x30”HD last year Dealer was an oxygen thief Machine has a big problem with its shear pins breaking. Of course, they are designed to break in ice, slush, and the heavy stuff the plows push in your driveway. However, mine break in a couple inches of light snow, every time I take it out. Contacted their customer support folks via chat and “Derrick” was another oxygen thief. Asked about whether the company put out new pins. I’ve lived in northern New England for decades and have had 3 different brands now. Really surprised Consumer Reports rated it so highly.

Not sure if it’s with all machines but my 2 stage works better if i run it in a higher gear to really feed it snow. If it’s slow and there’s less than 3 inches, it doesn’t throw that far
@toben426 жыл бұрын
Turbo boost your impeller, did mine and it throws snow at least 25% further. Works even better in the sticky snow.

I think that the issue was easily diagnosed when you said there is 3 inches of snow on the ground...and it looked slushy. The three stage machines are designed to deal with deeper snowfalls... I've seen video of them throwing snow at least 40 feet in deep snow. If throw distance is important to you, always go with an Ariens tho.
@travis60153 жыл бұрын

GerryStilton this snow isn’t deep enough, this snowblower is recommended for 6 inches plus. He’s only in about 3 inches & the snow isn’t touching the accelerator. Take a look at 4:28 , snow builds up & hits the accelerator & shoots out further as designed to do.

LOOKS LIKE IT DOES A VERY NICE JOB OF CLEARING DOWN TO THE PAVEMENT. HERE'S A TIP. TRY USING AN ALL THE WAY STRAIGHT UP SETTING ON YOUR CHUTE DEFLECTOR. EVEN IN HEAVY SNOW A SLIGHT ANGLE ON THE DEFLECTOR WILL LIMIT THROW DISTANCE. WATCH OTHER VIDEOS OF ANY SNOWBLOWER AND YOU WILL SEE THAT THE ONES KICKING ASS HAVE THE CHUTE ALL THE WAY UP. THE ONES WITH EVEN A SMALL ANGLE HAVE A MUCH SMALLER THROW TO THEM.
@allrock12386 жыл бұрын
it looks like they lowered the belt drive ratio lowering the RPM that the thrower "impeller" spins at to enable more torque to run the 2 third stage central front accelerators (what cub cadet calls the 2 throw back central impellers that "also" chop up the snow delivered to thrower impeller) or is there a reduction gearbox between the thrower impeller and the rest of the works ? also recognize its very heavy wet snow that is hard for any machine to throw any distance.. I am told 3 stage does work very well for clearing "dense compacted" snow like that pulled off from roofs or breaking through the plow bunk at the street..

A 3 stage snow blower isnt made for 3" of snow. 3 stagers need to be fed LOTS of snow. Otherwise you get that poor distance. Next time, try running the unit in 6th gear. Really FAST to get more snow into the auger.
@travis60156 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for your comment. I totally agree with you as I mentioned in the video as well. l believe the Cub 3X will shine in heavy deep snow. For my application tho, I have employees that need to get up my hill of a laneway, and having 3" at times can make it difficult to get up. So I have to clear it frequently, which is averaging around 2-4". For my needs of a snow thrower I needed something different. The dealer was really helpful and kind and understood the issue and said to return the machine. I decided to buy a Husqvarna ST 330P and she is perfect for my situation, highly recommend. Thanks so much for watching and commenting👍

If you're going to spend $1600 on a Cub Cadet 3X 30 HD I would have spent an extra $200 and gotten an Ariens Platinum 30 SHO. Better resale/parts availability/reliability...but hey I run a Cub Cadet XT2/Kawasaki Lawn Tractor and so far it seems great. So for your usage..you should be just fine. I wouldn't worry too much about throw distance just yet. That is a big machine with a 23" housing height, 420CC engine, and 30" width... Moving 1-3" of very wet snow is not going to yield an impressive throw distance. But just the same..it appears to be doing a great job removing the snow right down to the pavement. Wait till you get some real snow 10-20+ inches...if the throw distance is the same, THEN you have an issue. Best of luck with the new machine and oh tell your Wife not to worry about it. If she's anything like someone I know, "..you spent all that time researching and that's as far as this new machine throws snow.." Been there..

mboiko Thanks so much for your feed back. Unfortunately here in Canada the Ariens Platinum 30" retails over 3k. Ariens has a great reputation and l was seriously reconsidering it. Although I couldn't justify the extra $ for it. I returned this machine the very next day and decided on a Husqvarna ST 330P. I have to say the Husqvarna is a beast. So many extra options as well as 0% down, 0 payments up to 3 years if you choose, and 0% interest. I should do a comparison video now:) Thanks for your time and comments👍

You will be surprised how much better it will perform in all snow, will double or better the throwing distance.
