This is the ONLY video that points out how to get the belt past the steering "Column" I took pictures before I removed mine, but didnt capture or make a mental note of how that part was oriented... I figured it was to one side or the other.. You saved me from further second guessing. Thanks for a great video.

Hi there, I have a question for you and I’m hoping you can answer this for me. I have a 2013 cub cadet ltx 1045 and it feels like the tranny is slipping? I know it’s not but it feels like it. I have to pump the “gas” pedal a couple times to get it moving for some reason and it just started this. Now, I did replace the deck belt right before this started happening and the store I got it from “tractor supply” didn’t have the exact belt so I measured it and I thought it was pretty close, if not right on. Now it seems like it rides slower? Is there a drive belt or something that would make it sluggish? This all kind of happened all at one time. The deck belt broke, I replaced it with something I would say is real close but it seems to drive like crap now? Any help would be appreciated. Also do you have the actual belt number for this unit? I have the 19 horsepower engine. It also has the dual blade deck. Thanks in advance.

HI, on this model Cub Cadet there is usually a sticker under the hood that will show the belt part numbers and other useful info. Definitely check that first. IF the sticker is gone or isn't readable, the model number should be under the seat and you can go to www.partstree.com and plug in the model number to get the parts breakdown. Before you do all that you should be able to, of course with the engine off, reach up and feel the drive belt to see if it seems loose. With the clutch out and ready to mow. If it feels loose then it's probably slipping.

@@JLPicard440 the drive belt seems extremely loose although when I hit the go pedal it does tighten up but the mower has low hours and always ran good. I’m pretty sure I need a new drive belt. Thank you for getting back to me.

That's interesting.. is the mower a hydro transmission? The (right side) pedal should be tied with linkage to the transmission and shouldn't affect the belt tension. If it's not a hydro, then yes the pedal will affect the belt tension. The hydros usually have a speed pedal on the right and a clutch pedal on the left... the one on the left will affect tension.

I watched this which made it repair easier, thanks. I’m wondering if you switched the spacer or left it the way you put it back in and if it really makes a difference. I put it back the at you said that hen saw comments that said it as upside down. Do I need to take it apart and switch it?

HI, only if it makes any difference by switching it. I'd have to see it, I forgot what the spacer looks like.

It's been a while ago, but I don't think I changed anything. Usually if I discover an error like that, I'll edit in a piece into the video for the correction.. Do you have a timestamp for the spacer? I can take a look and see what it looks like..

Question for ya. the cub cadet ltx 1045 won't move. Makes a lot of whiney noise when trying to forward or back. I replaced the belt. It was terrible. But still the same. bringing the mower put of storage this year and the thing won't move. Is my transmission shot? The fan is spinning

Yikes! Yes it does sound that way to me.. Of course without seeing it, it's hard to be 100%. (I don't remember if that one has a way to check the fluid. If the fluid has leaked out it could cause that) That would make a great video.. 😊

@JLPicard440 it is a hydro. Turns out the brake.wasnt releasing. Thank God for small miracles. Some PB Blaster fixed it right up.

check instructions on installing the spacer on top of the pulley. most instructions state to place bevel against same on crank... IOW, "UP", and not toward pulley. It's not the clutch.... but rather brake needs to be set to remove and released to check tension

The OEM belt that was listed under the hood was about 6" short. The belt on the front pulley and through the three pulley under the deck doesn't even reach the hydrostatic druve pulley. So I'm assuming the 79" OEM pulley should be an 85". Does anyone have that p/n?

HI, if you check the description there's a link there to the belt used in the video. Of course if you have a different model number it may be different, but that belt is approx 85"..

I use an engine lift, but most people don't have one. Do you have a set of the lawnmower ramps for a pickup truck to drive a mower onto the back? If you park it half way up that would work great. IF you don't have that, do you have a set of automotive ramps? That would get the front up 8-10" or so... If you don't have either of those, how bout a set of 2x12's.. prop one end on something sturdy and drive the mower on top... all kinds of ways of doing it.. Hopefully that helps... 😀. They key is to be safe!

I seem to remember this being an 85 inch belt. That's for this particular model. Do you have a model number printed under the seat? If so, you can go to a website like www.partstree.com and get the parts breakdown and part numbers. Also most of these models have a sticker under the hood that shows the part numbers of the deck belt, drive belt, blades, etc. I don't recommend a specific brand. The OEM belt was pretty expensive, there were some aftermarket belts that were about 1/2 price on Amazon that had some good reviews.

Thanks for an informative and well produced video. The inside of the hood should have a placard with the belt numbers and more. My LTX-1045 drive belt is 954-04207 which is 1/2" x 79 1/2". A search for that number pretty much everywhere will get you a suitable cross reference.

Anthony, some websites will only work from the simple Model no. like LTX-1045. If you use others (like MTD), they will need the detailed Model number from the placard. Mine happens to be 13WX91AT056. Yours will be something like that. And BTW, even if they are a little more expensive, calling Cub on their service line will connect you with very knowledgeable and very friendly service folks who can walk you through it. Hope this helps.

Not sure I understand the question.... Do you have a time stamp? I probably reached up and just pushed in the clutch is all... Pushing in the clutch will release tension.

HI, if you go under your hood there's usually a sticker there on Cub Cadet. That should show the belt part number. You can take that part number and type it into Amazon and that'll usually give you the measurement in the description.
