I have this exact mower and my blades are always running and drains the battery during start up trying to do to much. I think the pto switch is still good cause I can hear something try to happen with engage and disengage. I pulled the power from the clutch and it still trys to turn when powering up the motor. What is wrong? Help I can take things apart but when it come to electrical I got nothing

That is the exact same engine as the Cummins--Onan engine that was used on the 2140. Any truck dealer such as Kenworth can get parts for it; that's where I get mine. The air filter element is Cummins Engine p/n 0140-3010. The oil filter is a Baldwin 33, Cub Cadet ME-122-0737-02, NAPA 51395 or anything that will cross to these numbers. Another bit of advice--Keep the air cleaner wrapper CLEAN. Clean or replace the wrapper every TEN hours. That's what's in the Cub Cadet owner's manual. The Cummins engine owners manual says clean or replace the wrapper every 50 hours. If you follows Cummins' instructions, you will probably suck in the crankcase output shaft and start spewing oil everywhere (as I learned the hard way). It takes about 300 hours of use; I lost my first seal somewhere around the 300 hour mark; the second at a little over 600 hours, and now have 1200+ hours on the third crankcase gasket once I started following the Cub Cadet instructions and cleaning that wrapper at 10 hour intervals.

I have a 13 year old series 2000 shaft drive 2166 with a 16 h.p. Kohler engine and there is a KZbin video titled "Cub Cadet Dealer Training Video for the Series 2000 Tractors" showing the dealer removing the drive shaft from the rear to replace the hydo unit. I have not seen one showing removal from the engine but there appears to be 4 bolts that connect it to the engine crankshaft. Good luck.

bad gas? bad fuel pump? plugged fuel filter? carb needs cleaning, or a new carb. when was last time machine had a genuine full service tune-up?

@@ChrisUrsiny I just bought it last year from an individual. It started fine last year. This year I started it for the first time and this is where I'm at. The guy I bought it from said something about only pull the choke halfway out as well as the throttle. Full choke floods it so he says. maybe full throttle idk
@ChrisUrsiny5 жыл бұрын
if its flooding carb needs rebuilt, floats may be sticking or bad as well.

is the exhaust system ok? what i mean is the muffler ok, no serious back pressure issues, i had a machine about 7 years ago with a partially collapsed muffler cause a no start situation, muffler was so restrictive there was virtually no exhaust flow this was causing gas to blow up out the intake throttle plate while i was cranking engine over.

The Linamar engine is actually an Onan engine. The Onan name is well a respected name. My brother just gave me his Cub Cadet as he wanted to move on to a newer mower. He bought this one new in 2000. A 2146, same as in this video. Still, a very good mower with many hours of life in it. Getting back to the engine, Linamar took over building the Onan engines because Onan could not meet exhaust emission standards, and I think they are built in Canada. I hope this information is correct. I recently read it on a forum dealing with the Linamar engine.

Those transmission's failed without having the tractor tires or loaded my Cub is loaded over sized tires it's got a 20lb solid bar bumper on the front also.I have two videos on my channel of it and the yards I cutI changed the transmission oil to 15w40 3 years ago and haven't serviced it or had any issues since. trying to bleed air from 2000 cub cadet 2146 any ideas from hydrostatic rear end I changed filter filled with oil now won't move
@rudedawg50876 жыл бұрын
I have a 2166 so did you use Cub Drive System Fluid Plus hydro oil & oem Cub filter or an acceptable cross referenced filter? Use only recommended filter/s or hydro oil will not circulate and trans won't move. Is the hydro free wheel release lever in the rear pulled out or is it in normal operating position and parking brake is released? I know it sounds silly but it happens to the best of us, don't ask how I know. Once all is verified and correct then pull the hydro release lever out and lock in place to freewheel position, chock front wheels, jack up back end of tractor, place on jack stands in secure safe locations under the transaxle, crank engine, then with brake released cycle drive pedals full fwd to full rev about 6-10 times, place hydro release lever back to normal operating position and repeat drive pedals process another 6-10 times and your wheels should start turning. The air should be purged out of the system by now and should operate normally. Good luck.

@@cadenjohnson1137 No need for a video. Take the tension off the drive belt by moving the tension rod from pointing forward to pointing out the left side of the mower. Look under the tractor in front of the rear wheels. Pull the pins on the gauge wheels, turn them 90 degree and raise them to their lowest setting and put the pins back in. Lower the mower. Take the drive belt off the main pulley and get it out of the way. On each side of the tractor a spring-loaded pin which attaches the mower to the lifting mechanism. Pull these pins out of the mating holes on the mower and turn them to keep the pins in a retracted position. Roll the mower aft until the front attach rod is clear of the slot it engages. Then slide the mower out from under the tractor. I take it out going to the right side of the tractor but I think either way will work.
