You might consider a new fuel filter. That part on the bottom of the carburetor is easily replaced.

I also was given this same model mower. I didn't have the crack. My issues were the valve cover leaking oil and the bolts and gasket for the muffler was missing.

Fortunately the valve cover wasn't leaking on mine. I did still pull the valve cover off to adjust the valves and ended up putting it back on pretty tight to prevent future leaking. Mine also didn't come with a muffler gasket. I don't think they come with exhaust gaskets. An update video will be up soon!

Just got mine and the vavle cover gasket is leaking right onto the hot exaust. It was missing like half the bolts lol. I'm going to take one of them off today and match it up at home depot

Thanks for the info! Question - I have this model mower and the brakes won't work. Any info on fixing them? Thanks!

I know you can adjust them. It's a disk brake kind of,and the adjustment is at the caliper on the right rear axle. You should be able to find a video on youtube.

Greta video, thanks. I just bought a used one , the steering on mine is really heavy. Is this how they normally are or is there something I should be checking to make the steering wheel easier to turn? I can't imagine this being the normal
@ciphercode22982 жыл бұрын
I have one and the steering is fairly light. I mean it a mower,so it's not as easy as a car,but shouldn't be heavy per say. Raise the front end up and support the front axle on blocks or stands and try the steering wheel. If it still feels heavy check the ball joints,steering gears and the steering shafts bushings. Also check the front wheels alignment to make sure they aren't opposed to each other.

Mine has been a good mower,but I'd rather have a hydrostatic tranny. It leaves a decent cut for a cheap homeowner grade mower. If you buy one of these that doesn't have the cracked block,pull those pan bolts and put some thread locker on them so they dont ever loosen.

Always use 100% percent gasoline. Never any with ethanol on small engines, it causes the gum up and sticking Carburetor problems.

You forgot to mention that stupid timed deck that it comes with. What a pile of junk the timed deck is.
@me1assassin8 ай бұрын
I hate Hate HATE that %%!(&^%$) Deck. I have an ltx 1040 with less than 50 hours on it. Parked in the Tractor shed, start it up and swear every once in a while. Once I found an article about changing out the deck, but haven't been able to re-find it or found anything since. (except another mention of "Sure you can change it out no problem. Just find a deck with the same mounting and drive system connection." - Really, uuhmm really that's it. No need for any details.) Sorry, I get a bit wound up when I think of that stupid timed deck.

You want to be very careful with applying flame to a crack on the block of an engine that, due to a leaking carb, could have gasoline in the crancase, it could very well become a bomb.
