One of my great grandmother's favorite phrase when we were misbehaving was "vas a cagar pelos sin comer mango!" Literally it translates to "you're going to shit hairs with having eaten mangoes." Basically, it means you'll be in serious trouble. I guess it comes from the fact that mangoes are fuzzy and presumably you poop the fibers out, but you if you don't stop misbehaving you'll be in so much trouble you won't even have to eat the mango to poop the hairs. It strikes me a lot of Cuban phrases derive from bowel movements! Also, the full version of "me cago en diez!" is "me cago en dios cabron!" Another PC version is "me cazo en diez!"

Great video! I'm an Argentinian teacher of English. I've never been to the USA but I came across one of your videos and fell in love with the Latino characters, with whom I feel so identified, and the Spanglish. I love linguistics. So funny and interesting to notice the patterns of Spanish-English mix. BTW, tremendo paquete would also be understood as male junk in my country. Bendiciones!

Blue jeans? We don't say that in Cuba...we call them "pitusa". Also, "paquete" is not "drama", it is something like."a huge lie", something too difficult to believe. Actually, "paquetero" is a person who tells lies constantly. Also, "mami" does not necessarily mean "hot woman". It will depend on the intonation and context. Just think that women also use it, referring to other women. It's just an endearing term most of the time.

Mateo era un vecino de abuelita y abuelo desde Publix y Winn-Dixie. Sadly, she is long dead, and I still try to relive the memory of her beautiful accent and wonderful smile. Her aching back and complaining about the weird strangers walking from Winn-Dixie. She was always careful to tell my abuelo to stay put and hold my hand while I jogged with him down the sidewalk and jammed down in the Saturn car from the small shed with the ruined tarp. The windows had those awful metal bars to keep intruders out and always kept the windows closed and blinds closed to block out the sun. Those beautiful trees my grandparents had. How sick they were, and I cried so hard. I lost my mom's mom when I was 8 years old, so I really don't know what happened to her. The dog is so old and becoming blind to remember them. She is so depressed when they left her and knew of their souls along with their spirits passing on. I'm still mourning and grieving. It's like I'm clouded by 3-4 generations of spirits and ended up with a demon along with possibly two other demons. I feel really weird and weak. Soulless and completely dead. Like I don't exist.
