Thanks for very useful videos, just wanted to add a tiny tip: ctl + shift + dragging with the range tool makes a selection across all tracks.

Thanks for the tips. I’ve been using Cubase for years and years and I’m still learning tricks to improve my workflow.

Yes this is one of those things that you overlook easily because you can do it in other ways too. Less efficiently though 😉.

Thank you for another valued Cubase Video. I think I do not use the Range Selection enough due to lack of Knowladge of its more advanced capabilities. Your video make me think it is maybe good time to learn it properlly. Thank you so much and have a great weeksend. Amram (Israel)
@LanewoodStudios2 жыл бұрын
Hi Amram, yes that's exactly the reason I made this video. Most of this has been in Cubase for a long time already but it's easy to overlook as you can do most of these things with traditional selection combined with cut/paste as well. But the range selection tooling makes it a lot faster so it's worthwhile to know about.

great video again...I never use range selection, was not so aware of all these goodies but I will certainly look at it and will surely use this tutorial as reference, thanks!

Thank you. Yes it’s easy to overlook these tools as everything can also be done with just ‘normal’ selection and editing. But using the range selection tools can be much faster sometimes.

Great! I was missing some sort of "ripple editing" feature like in Reaper but this takes care of that!

I use the range selection tool to set cycle markers. I made a macro and a shortcut, that sets the locators to start and end of the range selection (or the event if an event is selected) and then opens the cycle marker editor where I can name this. That way I can later export the music within the different cycle markers named by the cycle marker and the project all at once by selecting all the cycle markers I want to export into different files.

My tip: When you copy drag events make sure you let go of the click before letting go of alt otherwise it cancels and just moves it. I still do this all the time.
@LanewoodStudios2 жыл бұрын
Ha yes, very good tip. I just did that two minutes ago in Cubase on a laptop, where it's a bit of a pain to hold alt while also using the mouse pad.

Great explanation and demo. Now I'm wondering if range selection would allow me to apply specific EQ to a range, without the need to cut each tiny target segment into a separate event. If that could be done, what are the steps? Thanks!
@LanewoodStudios5 ай бұрын
Thank you but I don’t think that is possible with range selection.
@RonOnThePond5 ай бұрын
@@LanewoodStudios So then other than offline processing, to adjust EQ on a small section of an audio track I'd have to either cut the section into its own event, or automate the entire track? Thank you for any help you can give, pointing me in the right direction. I should add that I was pretty good with Cubase 15 years ago, and after that gap I am now relearning it (Cubase 13 Pro) as a relative newbie. I appreciate your helpful videos!
@LanewoodStudios5 ай бұрын
I hardly ever need this but yes offline processing or effects on the whole track and automation I would say.

It’s good to see how this works , however when you do this using the range selector and say delete a section . What happens to the automation data? Is it deleted as well and automatically moved ?

Hey Maarten, what about the combined use of the selection tool and de range selection tool? ps, a useful video once again.
@LanewoodStudios2 жыл бұрын
Hey Peter, yes I should have added that even though I never use it myself. When you enable that, you get the range selection tool or the object selection tool depending on where you click on the track. On the top part of the track you get the range selection tool and on the bottom part you get the object selection tool. That makes it a bit too fiddly to me, as my tracks are usually not so high. But of course YMMV. Thanks for the reminder so others can see it as well 👍.

@@LanewoodStudios Hoi waar is je studio? Limburg soms?
