I have the 2020 model of this bike 🚲, and it's absolutely fantastic, I'm 65 and far too heavy, I have covered 500 miles in probably six months and although I haven't lost any weight I'm certainly a lot fitter, I started out using turbo mode for the first 100-150 miles but now she's in emtb full time, the only modifications I've made is swapped out front forks for rockshox 35 gold as I didn't get on with the suntour's, had slime tubes fitted after suffering 3 punctures in 1 day, more comfortable hand grips fitted, but probably not needed now due to air spring front forks, I was worried when I bought it, I wouldn't get on with it being unfit, but I love it and look forward to going out on it, even in the uk's winter, I try to average about 15 miles when I take it out, can't wait for the summer and even longer rides.

I’ve the 2020 version, changed out a few components bars , dropper, Rockshox Recon air forks for a way better experience and Continental tyres and rode some hard trails with jumps, steep hills and rocky terrain in the UK. First ebike and got me hooked ! The motor is one of the best you can get, Fantastic review.......... best yet for this model ! Enjoy

Hi Andy, fellow Brit here 🇬🇧 I'm looking to buy my first eBike and have been out off by the recent price hike with Trek as I was looking at the Powerfly 5. Ive come across this Cube bike as a cheaper alternative, it has the same bosch 625kwh system. Do you have any videos of yours?

@@R0BBS Hi Matthew, unfortunately I don’t post videos but would be happy to post a few pictures of my current set up. I’ve been looking also at the 625 watt version. With subtle changes like the ones I’ve made you’ll have a wonderful Hardtail ebike. My advice would be , have a good look at selling pages such as EBay and Facebook marketplace , I kid you not I paid £900 less for my 2020 model and it was mint condition, just got lucky! There’re a few on Facebook at the moment from memory, a cracking silver one think it’s maybe large. Good luck , it’ll blow you mind , you won’t regret your purchase ......... enjoy 😊

As a previous owner of an emtb hardtail my advice is save for a full suspension specially if you are a heavy rider. They say a hardtail will give you a good foundation but honestly the confidence and compliance that a full suspension gives you is much more important for a beginner. Most people who defend E hardtails are those can't afford a fs. And also bear in mind you will be investing in upgrades for your bike like better droppers, stems, ergo saddles, tyres and the list goes on so why not invest on something you will be actually keeping. You will be second guessing yourself on the tougher trails because you are on a hardtail, whereas a fs will be a lot more forgiving with your lack of skills.

Very sophisticated review. Good blend of mtb and hybrid. 29" wheels would give you good ground-clearance in winter mud but the higher centre of gravity means less agility and less stability. 27.5" wheel is better for anyone under 6 foot tall. Standover height is important when off-road, you don't want too much bike underneath you.
@LordOfChaos.x3 жыл бұрын
Actually from experience 27.5 tends to understeer or oversteer quite easily 29 are much more stable in curves I own both versions 27.5 is somewhat more comfortable But if i want to go faster in the curvers i have more trust in the 29 due to more contact with the ground

The 2020 model was my 1st ebike as well...where I ride the tubules conversion is a must as there are thorns everywhere when the farmers cut their hedges (about now). the joint between the battery compartment cover and the motor is a weak point that can cause problems... you always have to clean it afterwards because dust or even mud gets into the compartment and my battery was already slightly dirty... so i had to seal the joint with a label .... Nice. But what is it with...dark frame colors. E-bikes should be neon bright! Or have reflective lettering/graphics. Bad enough riders wear dark clothing. Motor vehicle drivers cannot judge how fast that bicycle is moving, and therefore due to the dark colors, drivers are unlikely to notice when making turns. Rode an e-bike without a helmet...once. Broke a few fingers, elbow, collar bone, ribs, and saved-the-skull. Reason was a rapid stop, to avoid a driver, that didn't notice me riding a dark blue e-bike. Dark colors, are not wise for bicycles.
