I just had a look at the Cudeman 138Dp. Now that looks nice and very usable flat grind. Good choice and $200au. Which handle scales did you opt for? Not so sure about the sheath, I hope it is thicker than what it looks like. It will be really interesting to see how it performs compared to your other knives, given that it should be of a quality heat treatment. Would you have some sort of a cut test to compare decent 440c type steel against the Chinese variants?
@michaelwaldeck70815 күн бұрын
The 251 is similar in style though and same steel? This seems like a double up but nicer sheath. $230au. I will be interested to hear your reasoning, although both are really nice.

@@michaelwaldeck7081 I will do cutting tests with paracord or some other cord, remember that I have a Ukrainian 440C also from the Grand Way (but be careful) the N695 is not a wonder in your channel I will tell you why (it is a secret) lol you have to choose the N690co (I also bought the Cudeman 251 SVK 1) this is no longer manufactured and is in N690co (cobalt and 60HRC fixed) one for 90usd and the other for 80usd (both were on sale) ... you see common sense lol ... they are very little known and that is why they dropped in price

Muy bonito y practico, buen acero por el precio. Pero el peso creo lo pesaste mal😅. Un abrazo

HuangFu lies, of course they do. Question is how much of a lie? I use a honing paste from Tormek (yellow tube) which is cheap and does a good job. You spray the strop on the rough side with wd40 and then apply the paste. It goes a long way.
@cristianfuentes698 күн бұрын
so do you have this model? ...because I think the previous model, Fallkniven F1 Clone and El Lino Verde, do lie... but this one works much better, maybe it's the design, I'm not sure, but also remember that 14c28N is not a wonder and has a standart hardness range between 58-60HRC... and to be honest, Ruike Jaeger's 14c28N is not different in hardness either (I'm a little confused) I don't know if someone is lying or if 14c28N really is like that (Real Steel is not the exception either) ...I think we have very high expectations and 58HRC is still probable and very similar to 440A, 5cr15 and AUS8 with 57HRC even difficult to differentiate from 420 to 56HRC I think.

I'm deciding whether to buy 2 Spanish knives, the JVA BS9 in 1095 and the Nieto Chaman Bushcraft in N695 ...or just one, the Benchmade 15002 in CPM-S30V if I use common sense I will buy both Spanish knives without a doubt... When you come back, check out this comparison of the 440C, 154CM and CPM S30V ...maybe you can see that 154 is not far from its 440C origin: nobliecustomknives.com/es/cpm-s30v-steel/

@@cristianfuentes69 The first one looks OK however for a big knife it is flat grind and I don't see the point in that and it's 1095 so risky. I like the second one because it's a smaller flat grind similar to bk16 which just feels right. Knifenerds site puts n695 way down on toughness but it should outperform even 440c in cutting. Edge geometry will be important here eg 20 degrees.

I looked at the site. 154cm uses molybdenum to reduce chromium percentage and free up carbon carbides while keeping the stainless quality. This is the main difference to 440c from what I understand. So why couldn't Kizer get 154cm to outperform 440c?
@cristianfuentes698 күн бұрын
@michaelwaldeck7081 ...this one is definitely very good for its price, better than the previous one with choil, this one is superior for big hands and I think you will like it more than a Kizer
@michaelwaldeck70818 күн бұрын
I like that one of mine with the orange handle but its performance is weak.
@michaelwaldeck70818 күн бұрын
The Kizer out performs all of the other knives except for the Ganzo but I still expected more from 154CM steel.

@@michaelwaldeck7081 I just tested it against Esee 4 and the HuangFu has a little less damage, but I don't think it's 58HRC if Esee is 55HRC...at this point I don't know if Esee is at 55HRC I'm doubting, Kabar BK16 in supposed 420 did more damage and he is using a supposed "420" this can't exceed 56HRC (hence the conjecture about Esee 4) ...so there is something wrong here, what if Esee 4 is at 56 or 57HRC otherwise I need a microscope to see the difference in damage between each knife...
