Cuckoo calling in the Lomond Hills

A quick audio snippet from last week. In my ten years in the Lomond Hills I've only ever heard cuckoos from the house once. Back in 2014. But the other week we had one in our garden, and I've heard them almost every day on my local walk for the last few weeks. Indeed on several occasions, including Sunday just gone, I've heard two at the same time.
It does feel as though there are more around this year. I like to think I'm an observant person and would definitely notice cuckoos when they are here, but I do wonder whether they've always been here in these numbers and I just haven't noticed, or something different really is happening this year? Open to either tbh, but I'm just glad they ARE here 🙂

It has been, yep, but in recent years they've been doing better it seems.
