We reinstall the `Cuda's axles that were sent out to get tapered bearings pressed in from the previous video.
Here is Doctor Diff 's Tapered Axle Bearing Package with optional 3/8" thick billet steel adjuster and retainer. Also details on how to set the axle shaft end play on the billet adjuster. Don't forget to replace the 2.5 - 3 quarts of diff fluid!
You want to get Timken Made in USA tapered bearings as they hold up to greater road racing loads unlike those limp wristed "green" ones. Cass make great stuff!

No problem Brent! We should have video documented how the `Cuda was built but was too lazy and just wanted to go fast haha! We'll do a video series on the 73 Challenger build though... stay tuned!

Even though the retainer plate is thicker, it still depends mostly on the press bearing and lock.

When you said install the metal gasket with the ridge towards the opening that means towards the axel housing right (facing inwards).

Yeah, that direction worked for us!

When you installed the foam gasket did you put the foam first then the steel shim gasket on top then the billet plate ?

I honestly forgot how I installed it as it has been so long ago? It's whatever order it is on the video & to be honest that gasket sequence maybe wrong per the service manual. That being said, I have taken the `Cuda on numerous track days without any leaks from the axles so go figure haha thanks!

You realize that even though their Timken and are stamped Made in USA that their actually from over seas. They do not make bearings in Canton any more

Why does the 70 factory manual show the adjuster on the passenger side? Also, is the foam gasket directly against the tin gasket?

I'm not sure why the factory manual states that? The way I set this up works great for me. Have taken the `Cuda on numerous track days & thousands of miles since this video with no problems whatsoever

@@RylisPro I could possibly send you pics of the page. Now I’m super concerned after having the expensive Timken bearings pressed on. I sent an email to Cas at Dr Diff with a link to your video. Still waiting for a reply. Mine is a 70 Challenger U code 440 car with a new center chunk from Cas, 3.23 sure grip.

@@kevincassidy9926 I sent this video to Cass Dr. Diff to validate my work even before publishing it. He said it looked good & like I've stated I put the `Cuda through the road course plenty of times since with zero leak or problems!

@@RylisPro here’s a reply from Cas: Hi Kevin, 1. Install the adjuster on the passenger (right) side axle. 2. Yes, shock both axles inward with a heavy, mini sledge hammer and block of wood, then check/re-adjust wheel bearings. 3. Installation is pretty straight forward, but the shop manual is a good resource. Cass

@@RylisPro yep. Not doubting you. It’s just that factory manual said right side, Cas agreed, and my mostly original 70 Challenger had it on the right side. I wonder if it really matters? If yours is running fine, I’d say it’s owners choice. Regardless, I appreciate your video.
