CUET-UG | UGC Introduces Major Changes in CUET-UG 2025: All You Need to Know

The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate courses will undergo several changes in the 2025 edition. As per news agency PTI, students taking the CUET UG in the upcoming year will be able to appear for maximum of five subjects as against six previously. The decision was announced by UGC Chairman Jagadesh Kumar.

It is necessary to give those 10 optional questions out of 50, there’s negative marking too and when that’s the case, optional questions have to be there otherwise the cut off will reduce too by a heavy margin. Also, In mcq’s, there have been times when questions have been incorrect or there have been multiple answers to one question, how will you fix that issue when all questions are compulsory? Let’s say someone left that question (because there’s negative marking) and another attempted it, both of them deserve the chance to get marks for it, because the loophole here was the paper maker’s flaw, but now since option will be removed (tentatively), by doing so, there’s not gonna be a fair competition among students. Other policies are a great initiative! Even the unity in time duration, since this will ensure orderly & smooth conduction of the exam.

You have told us that exam will be conducted through CBT. But, sir there are many students who don't know how to use computer with mouse. Due to unavailability of the resources. But almost every students are familiar with OMR pattern. Also, in some centres. If some students will face glitch or any other bug. This will imapct on his or her time and mental state. Then, what will you do? So, others decisions are very good. Like uniform timing. But you should also add optional questions + OMR mode. You should also need to consider students point of view before applying this rule. 🙏🙂

The proposal to make all questions compulsory across subjects in CUET is unfair and impractical. India has multiple education boards with vastly different syllabi. For instance, ISC covers Financial Accounting in Accounts, while some other boards emphasize Computerized Accounting. Similarly, CBSE Economics focuses on Macro and Indian Economy, while ISC delves into Micro and Macro Economics. Expecting students to cover entirely new topics and books, especially in just 40-45 days, is unreasonable. Subjects like English and the General Test pose even greater challenges due to their vast and unpredictable content. It's impossible for students to master every vocabulary question from diverse boards or thoroughly prepare for all General Test topics. While subjects like Business Studies may have overlapping syllabi, this is not the case for most domains. This approach disproportionately disadvantages students from different boards and droppers, making the process inequitable. The idea of mandating all questions is illogical and imposes undue stress on students.

True. The syllabus if different of state board and cbse boards So if we are giving answer to all the questions and there comes a question from computerised accounting we cbse students wouldn't know it. And in the last 1 month,it is not a piece of cake to prepare a subject.

@anhad6494 I scored 728/800 got CVS for bcom hons but wasn't able to join firstly because of my dream to get into north campus and secondly I had health issues I'll advise you to focus on your 12th right now You'll have plenty of time after that Almost all the syllabus will be the same all you need to do is english as its syllabus is very vast but I believe you'll be able to tackle it too as paper is not that hard Remember the hard work you put in accounts for boards will really work well for cuet too i didn't do anything in accounts after my boards but still scored 188/200 just because of how I studied in 12th And BST is really easy through ncert you just have to give it a read 2-3 times i did this and scored 200/200 In economics you can just cover Sandeep Garg for macro and ncert for Indian economy Best of luck hope to see you soon in North campus 🤝

changes were necessary in the cuet ug examination but they should have atleast reduced the syllabus and in my opinion the optional question should exist if they are not removing the negative marking especially in the general test examination. CBT mode is great way to conduct the exam but what about the students who do not have that facility or what if they some some sort of technical issues?
