Just found this video by googling the coffee maker model which I have owned and used daily for more than five years. Best coffee maker I have ever had. I decided to review the manual for the use of the self clean button and found detail lacking. Your video is very comprehensive and goes way beyond the manual in very helpful ways: the use if a paper filter during cleaning, care of the hot carafe, etc. I'll subscribe to your channel to garner more useful tips. Thanks much.

I purchased this model used and it looked destroyed on the inside! But I know it's a great quality brewer. It's possible to almost completely disassemble the coffee maker for those who need to clean to reservoir by hand. There are 2 screw caps you MUST pry off and take screws out so you can get to and expose the reservoir. once you clean everything. you just put the screws back and use anything you like in place of the plugs you removed. I used hot glue.

Very helpful because of your attention to all of the details of the cleaning. One question is the value of the charcoal filter; I have never used the filter. Also, I am tempted to run the vinegar mix through the coffee maker at least a second time. Rinsing the coffee maker of the vinegar might be better accomplished by running three passes of 4 oz. of clean water than one pass of 12 oz. Thanks for your superior video!

I had this model a couple times a number of years ago, and then had several of the DCC 3200. Whenever I read the instructions for cleaning, my understanding is that the light for the cleaning, at least with the DCC 3200 and I think this model also, is supposed to light up automatically when the machine needs cleaning, but in maybe 20 years of owning Cuisinart coffee makers, it has never lit up by itself no matter how long it went without cleaning. What's also ambiguous in the instructions is how to run the cycle with plain water after the vinegar/water mixture. My understanding from the instructions, at least for the DCC 3200, is that you run the clean cycle again. I usually do it a second time with plain water just make sure all the vinegar is rinsed out.

We have the same machine. It is a standard in hollywood. Every time Two & 1/2 Men is on, I always point out the coffee maker in the background. Many sitcoms use the same machine. In the newer 2.5 Men its the same machine but its red. Big Bang Theory also have a similar Cuisinart machine but maybe a bit newer model. Lots of cop shows have this model too. Maybe they just have one machine and share it among the many sets to keep the budget under control lol. However the machine is not without difficulties as well. We're on our 3rd one. The first one stopped working altogether and it was replaced with one that started to leak. Like if you filled it up the night before, in the am there was water all over so that one went also. Our 3rd machine now starts brewing, then stops arbitrarily (shuts off) Sometimes it only make a 1/2 a pot so I have to keep an eye on it if the light goes out, I have to turn it on again. maybe time for 4th machine? In the "old days" appliances lasted 20 or more years. Now they are meant to be disposable. This is since everything started being manufactured overseas. Sure we can make things cheaper initially but are the cheaper in the long run?

This was very succinct and helpful. I would suggest that folks inspect the water reservoir filter holder after running the vinegar/water cycle. I have this exact machine, but there is no water filter or holder, even though you can see an opening on the left where the filter holder should be. They sold a bunch of these without the filter or holder, figured they could get away with it because there isn’t anything about it in the manual. I fully expect this kind of BS when it comes to today’s products, but didn’t think they would be scamming customers 15 years ago when I bought mine. Thanks for showing this. By the way, the cleaning step with vinegar and water will work even better if you use distilled water instead of tap water, and boil the mixture on the stove before pouring it directly into the machine - this will dissolve more of the build-up.
