What caused your kettle not to last? How did it fail?

I want to share my trial and error for this amazing electric kettle. My first leak after a year. Since the unit is made entirely of steel, I speculate it was rust. Water left sitting on the bottom 24/7 and the screws are covers in rust. Now i make sure the unit is thoroughly air dried near the window after every use. I even gave it a few shake till the last drop of water is squeeze out. I only use it to boil water (Delicate) . 1.0 liter of water took 1 min to boil. That's all I need. 🙃

I always use “Distilled” water to prevent any buildup from tap water. This way, your kettle will stay nice, no cleaning necessary. The beeping is NOT a lot, it has never been annoying to me, ever.....after I heat my water, I merely turn the kettle off. The blue color is actually pretty. I do not find annoying all the things that he finds annoying.

Will prevent build up but will affect the taste of your coffee as well as the extraction.
@becauseofkarma29134 жыл бұрын
We use the purified water to help with the build up as well. We live in florida and have NASTY tap water so it just enhances the flavor compared to the tap water 😂

Only stupid drink distilled water, mainly because they think distilled water is better for you because it's PURE water. Drinking distilled water is unhealthy for you in the long run because your body uptakes the minerals that are naturally present in the water. Distilled water has all the minerals removed.

Aicok is good, Miroco is very good ... both make variable temperature stainless models for half the price of the Cuisinart ...no way I pay 80 bucks when you pay around 30-35 for the other two

Nobody else have the exterior of the kettle turn to the same interior temperature. Burnt hands if you touch anything but the handle
@farquar10003 жыл бұрын
I have experienced intermittent kettle leaks and seen many comments of others similar experience. I believe I may have found the reason. I make a habit of filling the kettle very full. If I exceed the 1.7 Liter mark, there is a tendency for the pot to leak. This is baffling as there does not seem to be any seam for such a leak, and no sign of the water on the outside of the kettle. I believe the water in the clear capacity viewer is boiling to the point where steam rises in the handle. It condenses inside the handle, drains down thru the curved portion via the wiring channel into the plastic pot base. Then it drains through the holes of the plastic pot base onto the power base and subsequently your counter. I will be testing this theory. Check out this simple change and you may solve your own leaking kettle problem.

I just bought this model. I'm confused on how it turns off with some of the functions. If I press start and I have the keep warm function turned on, it reaches the temp and beeps, I fill my cup and put it back on the base, does the unit completely turn off after the default 30min? I wish there was a more obvious 'turn off' type of button. I don't want to have to unplug it each time I use it.
@kosmosbjm5 жыл бұрын
Adam K YES, after your use, you merely hit the START button again and the blue lights will disappear and the kettle is then turned off. You can also hit the warm button to keep it warming for 30 minutes. I usually turn off after using, and turn on again to reheat if I need more hot water. I love this kettle, especially the temp choices, since I use green tea, black tea, and a French press.

I recently bought this kettle,my question, is it normal when it bibbed and finished boiling not automatically stops and works again and again ,I was thinking after finishing boiling it has to stop by itself .So pls let me know if it’s the way it has to be?

This is THE most annoying kettle I have ever used, every time I am pouring the water and returning kettle to base, I need to press start button twice to stop this kettle from boiling water AGAIN. Could someone help me - is there a way to turn this behavior off so I can return kettle to base and it would not do anything afterwards?

I had been using a Breville Ikon electric water kettle for about 8 years, still going strong, but it doesn't have any temp controls. I decided to go with this Cuisinart CPK-17 instead. The temp setting is great! It works well. But... after just 1 year of use, suddenly the lid won't open! Is this a common failure?
@HelpAtMyHome2 жыл бұрын
Mine still works great. No problems with the lid. I’d look inside and see if your latch could be adjusted.

@@HelpAtMyHome I put the kettle through about 6 heating & refill exercises... all flawless. I am getting into the practice of closing the lid slowly, so maybe that will help encourage perfect alignment of the levers.

It's a general problem with probably all electric kettles, especially with a transparent plastic gauge insert. To avoid: don't add water when the kettle is still hot.

people also report the temperature sensing after a while is totally inaccurate (when the white thermal grease gets evaporated the temp sensors go nuts and everything gets roasted: switch, heater, connectors) My fav is the $20 disposable basic kettle on Amazon that last around 5 yrs of perfect boiling.
@Sarah-sh3nu5 жыл бұрын
I've only been using mine for a couple weeks, and it's not just leaking, it's leaking through the hole with the little clear gasket on the bottom directly onto the electrical components. This is DANGEROUS!

1500W is very weak power for a quality kettle , they are always 3000W at least here in the UK where we are on 240V mains power, and the filter in the nozzle which he had no clue about is obviously to filter out the horrendous build up of limescale in hard water areas ! I am put off with the beeping which is totally unnecessary especially if there is a keep warm feature- an idea of how noisy it is boiling is always an essential in a comprehensive review of any kettle as nobody likes it to sound like a pressure jet washer as the cheaper ones can do.
@HelpAtMyHome3 жыл бұрын
The 1500w limit is due to the US 110v. UK and Europe have much more power available for boilers

Yea that’s fair. Or you could start with warmer water. The overall point is if you fill it all the way (which many people do because of the continuous heating mode) it’s going to slow to boil
