Cullasaja Gorge

Most people only see Cullasaja Falls from the small parking area alongside Hwy 64. Then there's another group of folks who'll climb down a little to enjoy the beuaty of this 200' waterfall up close and personal. In this video, you'll see some of the hidden beauty that lies well beneath the road, the trees, and those steep walls of rock.

I tired to get to these falls yesterday. Couldn't find the way down to the river. Very steep, very narrow road (US64) no parking.

It is steep - there's one spot that isn't marked it's a pull off, right in front of the falls. You do have to make your way down the steep erosion trails and then make your way to the river that is down stream from the base of the falls, about 1/2 mile. The poison ivy has gotten pretty bad, I'll sometime wear pants and long sleeves to mitigate the danger of that. All the hard work does payoff, just takes a long time, especially on a hot summer day.

@@erichaggartimagery I tried one trail that was near a pull off. I could see part of the falls from the road. But, I am 62, have some heart problems, and I was alone. I only went down maybe 15 yards and seen it would have been hard to get back up. I kind of regret not trying a bit harder, but from everyone's description and from what I could see, I chickened out. I got to a few of the other falls in the area, bust you butt and dry falls. I only get to that area once a yr, so maybe next yr
