This is the problem with Every Dollar/ Dave Ramsey's budgeting method... you budget money you don't have, and sometimes stuff happens and you don't ever receive the money you planned on. Which is why I love YNAB. You budget only what you currently have by asking yourself, What does this money need to do for me until I get paid again? Seriously life changing. I followed Dave's baby steps but used YNAB as my budgeting tool, and it totally worked for us!

Teresa Wilson we used YNAB for a couple years and it was transformative for us. We hit a rough rough patch and are pulling ourself out of the hole using the same idea only on paper. It’s a great program!

I know y’all have probably heard this a million times but I’m going to say it anyway. Watching your journey is so encouraging! So many of us live in fear of facing the truth about our finances. It’s just easier for us to keep our heads in the sand. Watching you face reality in such a bold way makes it easier for the rest of us. You are doing great. Keep it up! But even more importantly, be willing to give yourself a break (and a little grace) when needed. I pray that your house sells in God’s perfect time.

Great job on being gazelling all over. Just wanted to mention something we found out when we downsized to prepare to retire that the bank needs to report cash deposits over 10k per year. We sold lots of large items, furniture, appliances, a car etc and made many cash deposits and the bank let us know about the limits. Essentially they told us if it was over 10k it could be considered as taxable income. Also be careful selling anything that you bought and expensed through the business. I sold off some business equipment and needed to run that through our business taxes because it was being depreciated as business equipment. Gazelle away!

I know you are still trying to get caught up personally but you may want to look into "Profit First" for your business. It is an accounting method that basically says you pay yourself first and then you pay your business bills. It will take some discipline to switch your business finances but you can slowly start implementing the principles while you build enough funds to fully switch.

As someone who is looking to start up an online/freelance business in the future, I am LOVING the business tidbits. Keep 'em coming! As for the podcast video, who says you need video to upload on KZbin? Just use a still picture (your profile pic?) and upload the audio. Then you can upload past episodes too without them seeming out of place. Most people are probably just going to minimize the window and listen anyway, so why add an extra step that won't even make that much of a difference? Work smarter, not harder 😉

You should have gotten a "brand deal" with the bank and talked up some of their account services! Obviously I have no idea how that's done or if it's feasible. But isn't it cool that your getting out of dept journey can help promote your channel/business? I mean that in the most supportive way. Just thinking maybe there's more positive opportunity in this series?

We had a small business for thirty years. Once we decided we wanted to retire we gave up our offices for the last three years we were in business and moved it into our home. What a savings and great tax break it was! Because we rented the company our full finished basement the company paid us a lease payment. It was so nice and we wondered why we had not done it earlier. We had five employees and while it was a little out of their way it wasn't a problem because they still had a job. Even B.M just recently got a office but it is more of a shipping center and she has done well working out of her home and J.P the same, their office is in their home.

Aja Dang is also another youtuber who went thru Dave Ransey’s baby steps. She had multiple times that this happened to her. She had multiple videos that discussed these but basically she had to put a lot of cushion in her “baby step 1” since payment is irregular. She even noticed which months are when non payment happens more often. Good luck!! Btw, she just did her debtfree scream too!

TheBrittbrat2341 I found when moving cross country that getting a pod (or something like it) worked best. My husband was gone for work, I had a baby and a toddler and I was able to pack all boxes and load, my husband came home the day we moved and one of his friends and him loaded the big furniture, it was all super easy. I set up the pick up and delivery of the pod at the new house and we unloaded it then the company picked the empty pod back up! And I should mention it was about $90 to rent per month and no delivery/pick up fee opposed to a Uhaul which is $90+ a day to rent!

In my opinion, I don't St. Joseph has anything with selling your house quickly. I think it has all to do with the current market..and how many people can afford to buy a $500k house. Brittneys house is smaller..so I'm sure the number of people who can afford a house like hers is larger vs those who can afford a bigger/more expensive house. Anyways...just my opinion!

When a brand does that with your paycheck do you still work with them in the future? I have never done sponsored content, but I know this would infuriate me and make me rethink working with them.
@CullenandKatie
@CullenandKatie 4 жыл бұрын
It depends on the reasoning for the delay and the overall experience with the brand prior to late payment. If they’ve been amazing to work with otherwise and we’ve had no other issues, but something happens like in one of our current cases where somebody went on maternity leave and some paperwork slipped through the cracks, we would most likely give them another chance! It also depends on how they’ve responded to the situation. We’ve encountered brands who don’t give a flip and are still rude even when its their obvious error, and those are just not the type of people we’d want to work with again in general! But there are many who are incredibly helpful, communicate well, and do everything they can to get it fixed ASAP, and we’re always understanding of the fact that people make mistakes. So it is a case by case basis for sure!

Karen Berhow Catholic here, you are right, we don’t believe in any powers inherent to statues/ rosaries/ Crucifixes. They are called sacramental, which are just tools to help us deepen our faith with Jesus Christ. The tradition of burying St. Joseph is not a church teaching but just a tradition by some people practicing the faith. I have heard of it as an ask for St. Joseph to intercede for God but have never heard anything about St. Joseph “getting unstuck”. 😂 I was cracking up. It can’t hurt but there’s no power to any of it. Much love to brothers and sisters in Christ ❤️

Imagine this… If something happens to Yputube or your relation w Yourtube, your challel aso… And zero money comes in from that part of your company. Start with one month of backup and when posible ad more when possible. I am selfemployed and I can tell you… Money in the company aka "future paychecks" (I don´t have this but I wiiiiish) makes sleeping easier and the belly to calm down ; ) Ofc I meen later on : ) when possible and in your way.

I finally realized we needed a business savings or what I call reserves. I’d like it to be a year of his expenses. Real estate is even tougher where you can work for months and months and months and then if something happens at the last minute you don’t get paid. So definitely want to year of reserves.

Please don’t buy that idol that what it is and the bible talks a lot about putting your trust is an idol. Pray like you never prayed before and rely on God no idol is going to help you. I know the feeling we felt trapped in a house for 3 years we had it on the market and when we finally sold it was the perfect timing and we had to move in two weeks. It happened fast when it happened.

Dated a man who wore a Saint Christopher medal when he rode his motor bike. He lost it and I replaced it as a gift. He was delighted, but was puzzled because I’m not Catholic. I told him that if he was more comfortable riding with the Saints protection, that made more more comfortable as his passenger! You too are so young. She sounds like Gaines! Everything’s going to be alright.

I was reading the other comments and I think someone else asked for a video about how to get brand deals. Which made me think of this question: have you considered a breakdown of your business income? Like this much is from KZbin, this much is from post sponsorships, etc? I realize that's personal info you may not want to share but as an aspiring blogger for many years I know I would be super interested. My husband is an orthodontist and so that's our business so our business revenue is patient payments and insurance payments. I know the business is doing better but I also can assure you neither of us knows the numbers of how much is coming from which income source. It's so crazy how much there is to track as business owners and also you really don't have that guaranteed amount like a "regular" job (which I have). Anyway just thought I'd put it out there but i suspect you both already have content ideas up to your eyeballs 😘 but enjoying all that you produce!

Make sure you look into hill and valley fund that Dave talks about. This goes with the irregular income budget.

Oh snap, you guys were just babies in Jamaica!! So so so young!! Allie Kat is quite the jumper!! That was epic!! If you wanted to upload to KZbin, Katie, you could just upload the audio of your podcast with a cool background on the video or even just a picture of you with a podcast logo or something. That way you don't have to record video of yourself. I listen to a narrator of stories that does this. In fact now he just keeps the video screen on black bc lots of people listen while falling asleep. So it's a thought for you in case that was something you wanted to do. ☺☺

Yes, please post your Katie on the flip side. Podcast on KZbin. I don't listen to podcast but I would definitely watch you even if you're in your closet, haha! Also, please tell us the definitive way to Place St. Joseph in our yard if we need to sell. I am not there yet, but it's nice to know the proper way.
