I have to agree about Young Frankenstein. The only scene i remember laughing about was the blind man ( Gene Hackman,) trying to befriend the monster but he keeps accidentally hurting the creature.

Hi Daniel, James, here, Thank you for reviewing these forgotten films of horror. It sounds like "Frightmare," got the idea, as far as the 'digging up the corpse,' aspect, from "Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things," from 1972 (Six friends in a theatrical troupe dig up a corpse on an abandoned island to use in a mock Satanic rite. It backfires with deadly consequences). This 1972 movie, is not really that great. It is nice to see a fellow movie lover, so passionate, about the art of film, especially the Horror genre. All 15 titles, mentioned here, I had acquired on blu ray recently. I did watch "Innocent Blood," before knowing you watched it. It was in a 4 pack horror blu ray set, along with "Wolfen," "Body Snatchers," and "The Hunger." I watched all 4 of these, and "Innocent Blood," was my favorite out of the bunch. It's not a very well-known vampire film, but it was a nice discovery. I did have a Lugosi marathon recently, "White Zombie," "Murders in the Rue Morgue" (1932), "Bowery at Midnight," and "The Corpse Vanishes." The 1932 films, "The Old Dark House," and "Island of Lost Souls," starring Charles Laughton, have always been favorites of mine. "The Most Dangerous Game" (1932), with Leslie Banks and Fay Wray, is another gem. I know you had mentioned Barbara Steele (always a favorite of mine), I had gotten the Severin blu ray, for "Nightmare Castle," (the fully restored European print), it had 2 bonus films, also with Steele, "Castle of Blood" (the rare U.S. version), and "Terror Creatures from the Grave." I had also found, "Messiah of Evil," from 1973, from the Radiance release. It was an AMAZING pristine print, the movie is in the vein of the "zombie" sub-genre. A creepy, unsettling film.

I remember watching Blood For Dracula and Flesh for Frankenstein as a double feature back at the Valhalla Theatre in Glebe, Sydney. I'm going to say late 80s when I was around 17-19. They were real eye openers for me as you might guess. I miss those days because they often had midnight-dawn horror fests. Something you so rarely see these days. Totally agree with you on Innocent Blood btw. I've got this on DVD from back in the day and I've seen it so many times. The cop is Anthony Lapaglia, a fellow Australian and he's done so many good things. Worth checking his stuff out.

TUFF TURF is one of my favorite "hidden gem" 80s movies. It ran on HBO when I was a kid and I liked it so much I taped on a Panasonic VHS... and then watched it like every other day for months. (I actually did this with a LOT of movies). I really think it is a surprisingly well-built movie, the story flows, as you say it builds and builds in intensity, and by the time you get to the climax it's just rockin. I rewatched this a few years ago prepared to CRINGE... but I didn't. At all. Just a good little movie.

Thank you so much for talking about "Tuff Turf" a "Innocent Blood", two of my favorite film's. "Tuff Turf" is one of my ten favorite 80's films. Everything you said about it is true. One thing I noticed years ago when I first saw it . The stunt dancer they used for Kim Richards was wearing a wig. It in no way matched Kim's hair. Wrong color. I LOVE "Innocent Blood". It ROCKS" !! Can I make a recommendation? "Maneater of Hydra". A very weird film from the 1960's. 😄😄😄! I love your channel. ❤❤❤

Yay for Innocent Blood being no 1! I have loved that movie for years and it was so long before they brought it out on Blu-ray. It manages to be funny but hard hitting and romantic too. The whole bit with the handcuffs 😆. Definitely going to check out some of your other recs too - I have had Tuff Turf for ages (big James Spader fan - saw him in Starcrossed many moons ago and never looked back - wish they would bring that out on DVD or blu-ray) but have never gotten around to watching it. Saw some great movies this month too - Violent Night (David Harbour is so good), Bullet Train (just a riot from beginning to end) & Mr Right (love Sam Rockwell being unhinged). Thanks for another great vid.

Honestly, I wish Frighmare was necro! There’s that one girl who makes it very clear she’d been crushing on the horror star, so I thought for sure there would be a seduction scene with her and his ghost. But no, he just hits her on the head with a flying coffin while he’s off screen. Bummer.

I've always enjoyed Bordello of Blood, for what it is! Love Miller's snarkiness and all the hot babes. Couldn't agree with you more about Young Frankenstein...I've always felt it was overrated, even with the aesthetic and good performances. from a non american POV neither me or my friends ever found remotely funny most of the young Frankenstein humor, I actually thought you had to be American to find it funny, but I see that's not even the case. Mel brooks has some decent and definitely funnier movies. I think the twelve chairs is pretty ingenious and even sometimes funny, and I love blazing saddles, but I never connected with the young frankenstein

Young Frankenstein is kind of boring. It just did not work for me. I admire the actors in it and the fact that the film was in black and white. Mel Brooks' sense of humor is just hit or miss for me. I love Spaceballs and some moments from History of the World, but overall I just not a big fan of his work.
