I neglected to leave a message when I made a drop in the till a few minutes ago. I just wanted to say a very hearty "thank you" to you, sir. When I discovered this KZbin channel some years ago, I was blown away. Not just by your talent and chops, but by your warm personality and willingness to let us in and share in your journey. And the gear -- geez, the gear! Every video is like a trip to the candy store -- what is the Professor gonna drop on us next? When I need a bass fix, this is where I go first. In fact, this is my preferred way to listen to some of my favorite music, period. There are some great bass channels out there, but THIS was the launchpad for me. Tough to outdo the OG. God bless you and Lynn and the fur-kids.

Hey, Troy. Long-time listener, first-time commenter. I'm long overdue to thank you. I've been watching your videos since I started playing bass - that was in late elementary school, when I was recruited into my school's rinky-dink little student band. I got heavy into Rush and I was so set on learning to play Geddy's lines, and your videos were like magic to me. Like woah. I hoped hard that I'd be able to play half as well, and it still feels like I'm not even halfway to halfway there yet. That was back in sixth grade, just about, and now I'm in college (still playing bass) and I've never stopped tuning in. Watching you play has always been a great inspiration to me and I've always loved reading the stories that you put in your descriptions. I wish you the absolute best and I hope you get to keep playing for many, many years. I don't think I could thank you enough nor put into words how deeply you've affected my musical development. You're a cool guy. Addendum: A late congratulations on your anniversary! I get the feeling that Lynn's pretty damn cool too, if the number of basses you've bought is any sort of indication.
@Tracer9GTRider83 жыл бұрын
What a cool story, that's fantastic! I tried starting way late in life & it's not going well. My regret is that I was never inspired to start young. Keep going, you'll never regret playing an instrument but you'll probably regret quiting.
@yadielreyesuribarry54183 жыл бұрын
@@Tracer9GTRider8 I won't have anything to regret because I'll never quit. No question there. I'm not exactly where I want to be in terms of skill (there's ALWAYS the feeling that I could be doing better, which is sometimes a heavy feeling, and I know I'm not alone in this) but I've come a long way and I've never lost the passion for it. I know well the feeling that I could never nail some part because it seems beyond my capability as a bassist. But when you grit your teeth and you keep at it and you finally, FINALLY get it right - probably very few things are as gratifying. So keep at it. What you don't get today, you'll get tomorrow. Maybe the day after. But you'll get it, I promise, and you'll be impressed by your own progress. You *can* become a great player, age notwithstanding. I'm rooting for you.
@Tracer9GTRider83 жыл бұрын
@@yadielreyesuribarry5418 Good on you...don't quit ever! And I thank you for your support. I am discouraged easily and just don't feel like I "have the music in me" if that makes sense. If I could play bass as well as I ride a motorcycle I'd be a happy man!
@yadielreyesuribarry54183 жыл бұрын

@@TJH3113 that's the thing, if you're name is Vinny Fodera or Ken Smith or Wal that name alone is responsible for most of the price tag. It's not like they do anything that's completely cutting edge. The stupid crazy fender prices for the old school basses are a testament to that. 10k gets you the same bass as 300$ in that respect. I will say that these boutique builders have something awesome going and it's uniqueness that I really appreciate. I feel like Warwick and Spector did it right by having some cheaper models as well as custom shops for the people who want to pay big bucks. I know Mike Tobias and Ken Smith tried it but not as successfully. Aside from the Asian copies if you want a Fodera you're going to be paying for it. But anyway I always love to hear your ideas and your commentary. You got an absolute great tone out of this thing and so much better than most of the other people I've heard playing Foderas. Opened my eyes for sure.

Cool! Thanks. The video wasn't helpful for me with regard to learning more about the bass-line, but I thought it was really interesting. Thanks for sharing the link.

Now we’re talking! I have always loved this band. Total ground breakers and in my opinion, nobody sounds like them. One of my all time favorite bass lines is Nothingness from the Stain Album. Keep up the great work! Now I got to dust off my bass and knock off the rust.

“Nothingness” has an awesome groove in the bass line. My favorite song by LC.

Thanks! I need to go back and revisit some of their catalog myself.

Nice job Troy! Doug Wimbish is a monster, tough bass in this song. Well done!
