As an on-again/off-again referee around New England over the last decade, I had the privilege of refereeing a match between Kazarian and Brian Myers w/Matt Cardona in his corner a few years ago. While I was intimidated because it was the highest profile match I've ever called, Kazarian ended up being one of the nicest guys I've ever worked with.

Most of these competitors I do remember... but perhaps not for the right reasons. Superstars who could have offered such potential to be big stars if given a chance. Some who didn't even have that bad of a win-loss streak, but what failed them was a lack of stage presence and a compelling story. Of competitors who would've made for amazing champions, but either they had trouble backstage and it came back to haunt them... and some were only around just to be cannon fodder for the bigger names in the industry. I prayed for something good to come for each of them, praying that if given the chance they'll finally be the stars they were meant to be... but then when it never happened, it came a time to just... give up.

I always remember Gunner Scott associated with Benoit, and I realized a few years after his death that maybe Gunner was released due to his association with Benoit and WWE trying to disassociate with all things Benoit after the truth came out about what happened with him and his family. But maybe it was just a coincidence and the company just saw no future for Gunner.

Atleast they tried to create new stars during the ruthless aggression era. Unfortunately their creative team was losing it during the latter end of the era
@saviorselfX2918 күн бұрын
I would say that they tried from 2002 to maybe early 2005. After that, no effort was made to actually MAKE people into stars. There are so many people who debuted during Ruthless Aggression and the early PG era who would have been solid midcarders to bonafide main-eventers had WWE written them with any degree of competency.

I still wonder what happened with Sylvester Terkay. I mean, even if he and Burke did get moved to ECW, he was still treated like a big threatening deal. I don't think he even lost a singles match on TV before getting released, and yet Burke stuck around for a while after. I always wonder if he pissed someone off or had a bad attitude or something, since even back as a 12-year old, I could obviously tell they had big plans for that big dude.
