It's pretty funny seeing old rivals team up. Even though it didn't end up happening, the same was scheduled at the 1991 Survivor Series. Jake Roberts was going to lead a team with the Natural Disasters, even though Earthquake "squashed" Damien earlier in the year. Wrestling is weird sometimes.

The thing that hurt Mr. Perfect mainly in WWE throughly the early-'90s had been the injuries with his back and irregular late-'93 through late-'96 schedule. Then when he went to WCW it was so ridiculously overstocked with a massively bloated roster where the bookers were mostly focused on what to do with the NWO or the Cruiserweight.

I remember Ron & Von. Never understood why they split Dudleys and APA at this time. Felt like it really hindered the tag division as a whole during those times.
@Coybito11 күн бұрын
They did a four way at WM18 which was Billy and Chuck vs the Hardys vs the Dudleys vs the APA and one of the things that highlighted was how stale the division had become. So they divorced the teams partly to force themselves to come up with some new ideas for the division, but not completely successfully given the Duds and APA were back together within 18 months. Jeff and Matt stayed together initially (teaming against Brock in his early months) before separating in the summer.

Seeing some of these teams reminds me of how Tyson Kidd and Cesaro were put together in much the same fashion. Just two mid-card guys with naught else going on, but they were able to gel together and make a really good tag-team for a while. Still such a shame about Kidd's injury.

Considering the merits of No. 1, I think Randy Orton & Shinsuke Nakamura deserve a spot on the list. They had several TV matches together in 2017 & a PPV match against KO & Sami that year. They didn't compete for the tag titles, which is probably the biggest mark against them, but they doubled Hardy & Khali's tenure as a team and amounted to more despite being totally forgotten. The bonus being just how similar both of their careers were in WWE & NJPW for the 2000s/2010s, which makes them a sort of mirror dream team.

0:42 - Oh no, you're wrong right from the get go because I _do_ in fact remember Charlie Haas & Viscera's team; I watched a lot of the B-shows back then (perhaps more than any "true" fan really should, but I digress) and I ate that entire "World's Largest Love Machine" angle up - it was so ridiculous, absurd and stupid that I loved it at the time. Probably hasn't aged too well though, and the ending with them turning on Lillian for... I dunno, reasons? Even older me thought that was dumb and pointless.

Matt Hardy and Tatanka very unlucky to miss this list (although I think they’re one of those tandems which is so bizarre and nonsensical that in fact everyone DOES remember them). I laughed at the comparison between Khali and Jeff, though, so all good. Boss Man and Perfect teaming was infuriating for my 1991-loving self. I know the guy upthread is rightly pointing out that BBM was in WWE just three years earlier, but the pairing really marked them as two guys in the wrong era.
