Good on you, Fraser! It's great to see you breaking out of the newsroom every once in a while. With that said, KOTR '95 was dreadful from start to finish as the Federation's attempt to push mid-card talent to an upper tier level failed miserably. If ever the phrase 'try, fail and adjust' applied to WWE, this show would serve as a prime example. Here's to hoping that this becomes an ongoing series as there are plenty of PPV's that deserve to be further analyzed.

Fantasy booking, I would of had Davey boy win the tournament. They turned him heel for Summerslam anyway and by years end he is challenging for the wwf title. I just love the idea of the Hart family winning the first three kotr tournaments. I'm solidly a Hart guy

Back in the late 90's I made a point to find and rent my way through all the "Big 5" pay-per-views on Coliseum Video. They were all out on VHS except for the 1988 Royal Rumble and rental stores were plentiful so it made for a fun treasure hunt. This was really rare and the last one I managed to find at a video rental way out in the suburbs. It's lucky that I wasn't looking for quality.

Really great look at a horrible show. Please do Wrestlemania 2 next, as imho it was even worse then this train wreck. You could tell Vince knew how to promote, but had no clue about how to make a supercard! Of the 12 matches I feel safe in saying only ONE was even worth looking at the ring/screen to watch, and it wasn't the Hulk Hogan main event.

Despite the crap many wrestling channels give this era and this ppv in particular, as an impressionable child growing up, it made me a fan of the WWF. Bret hart went from a good wrestler to me to my hero. Mabel became the bane of my wrestling viewing. Savio Vega made me appreciate stone cold later on. So in my eyes, this era and this ppv was successful in converting me as I'm sure it did others too

This ppv is significant for me as i bought the vhs from Woolworths after a few years not interested in wrestling on the strength of razor, hbk and taker in the tournament as well as bret vs jerry . I was baffled by how far wwf had fallen and realised it was bad but in those days as a kid who didnt have sky i still lapped it up and luckily stuck around as a fan for a while.

Unfortunately my family and I went to see this in person and regretted it. Only thing good about it was seeing Bret Hart beat Jerry Lawlor. The crowd was so pissed off about Mabel's win that the booing was deafening and everyone was happy once he left the arena to get on with the tag team match

Great video! This show was a true example of how mercilessly mean-spirited a Philadelphia crowd truly can be. The city used to be famous for once booing, heckling and throwing snowballs at Santa Claus. And I've noticed this in a lot of videos (mostly UK) and don't take this as me whining and/or being a smark, but the chant was "E-C-DOUBulhyoo! E-C-DOUBuhlyoo! E-C-DOUBuhlyoo!" Davey Boy Smith absolutely should have won the 1995 King Of The Ring. It made such perfect sense! Can you imagine how hot his heel turn would have been if he had done so upon winning that tournament? He should have gone over for the title at Summerslam '95 & dropped it back to Bret Hart at Survivor Series '95. Davey was in need of a character change & becoming King David could have been legendary if only they'd booked it. Plus he'd be the third Hart family member to win the KOTR tournament so there is also that. I'd have had Davey's partner Lex Luger qualify for the tournament in a match against Davey. But when Lex gets attacked by a "masked man" who injures me Davey steps into his place & wins the tournament last defeating HBK with the help of that same "masked man"....and he turns out to be Davey's brother in law Owen Hart. Beginning their "royal" alliance. And also kickstarting the Owen/HBK feud.

Looking back at the lean times WWE had in 1994 1995..One thing I kinda miss is 2 things....1. I kind of like the smaller venues they used for RAW during these times...Something about it...These days we see the same big arena same everything iam actually kinda sick of the WWE RAW setup now..just everything....and #2..I for some reason really miss the curtin...I miss seeing a heel swipe open the curtins hard and walk out...and just more.....BRING BACK THE CURTIN PLEASE

The worst show I ever saw (no longer watching due to age/lack of time) was KOTR 2002 (which Brock Lesnar won in his rookie year) - it was just like a Raw show but I had to pay for it. And that’s the problem I remember with KOTR - it was always a bland one on one mid card show with maybe one awesome main event (like the 98 show, or Shane McMahon v Kurt Angle in 2001). In my opinion this is an easy fix to make the tournament highly anticipated again - whittle down the contestants to the last 6 then, rather than having a bunch of bland mid card matches at the PPV, put all 6 in one elimination chamber match.

1995 was definitely the worst time of WWE ever, if it hadn't been for people like Bret Hart, Undertaker, and Shawn Michaels, than I would have gone to WCW, but I knew that WWE would rise from the ashes with the attitude era.
