Rikishi saying he took out Stone Cold for The Rock because for the first time there was a chance for a non-white wrestler to lead the company was pretty bold (and very modern). Rikishi throwing Rock under the bus when he wouldn't back him was also kind of cool. The problem was wasting all that complexity in a storyline focused on Stone Cold coming out on top. I'm also surprised it's not mentioned more that HHH as the mastermind is so predictable, literally Stone Cold's no.1 enemy at the time of the attack, not surprised they attempted a swerve.
@Thecallmemisterajp3 жыл бұрын

You can tell how well loved DDP was that, despite the storyline, he got a huge pop. I remember Sandman sticking around because he noticed a few of the specifics listed off could have applied to him, until they called an audible. Sandman as his son would have made for some interesting and probably hilarious TV. HHH going over Sting was such a stupid choice. Plus having nWo come and help one of their sworn enemies was stupid. The main thing that ruined The Invasion is the fact that they didn't wait. 1: There would've been a lot more tension and anticipation if they let it just sit in the background, as a looming threat. 2: They could've gotten the big names that made it so anticipated. 3: Paul Heyman was a head writer, and he would've handled it a LOT better.

Who should have been the Higher Power? I don't completely recall where and what everyone was doing at the time but I can think of a few interesting names to start... 1. Shane? Vince as the HP doesn't really work because of everything that the MOD did to him and Stephanie but I could see Shane going full evil on them for the power grab. 2. Stephanie? So I know she was one of the big targets of the MOD during that run but I could see it being Steph all along if it was explained as partly a power grab but also partly her turning on HHH and, in the subsequent episodes, she turns the MOD against him as revenge for how he ruined her life. 3. Vince Ruso? This could have been an interesting injection of "work-shoot" backstage politics into the kayfabiest storyline the company had going if done with the right balance of tones.
@monstermikeheinrichs3 жыл бұрын
1. Shane was already the leader of the Corporate Ministry at the time soit wouldn't really make sense for it to be him. 2. Stephanie was still sweet and innocent at the time, so it very much couldn't have been her. In fact, the whole reason she married Triple H in kayfabe later that year was because of Vince and Shane leading the Corporate Ministry, and putting her through hell. 3. Russo was a backstage only kind of guy in WWE. I doubt VKM would have greenlit that anyway. Honestly, they never should have made the Higher Power be an actual person to begin with. If it had just been a metaphorical thing the whole time, it could have been great. It's interesting to think about how if they did that instead, we wouldn't have gotten Stephanie turning on her father and marrying Triple H for revenge later that year, which means we wouldn't have gotten the McMahon-Helmsley Regime, which means Hunter and Steph don't start dating in real life, so they don't get married, there's no Reign of Terror, no Triple H becoming the heir apparent of WWE and getting lots of power, so no NXT, NXT Takeovers, and potentially no people like Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, Finn Balor, Asuka, Alexa Bliss, or the 4 Horsewomen. That one moment sent such shock waves through the company, that it may have completely altered wrestling history, and we're still feeling the effects of it today.

I'm still very happy that Team WWE beat Team Nexus. Why are you wondering? Very easily. Everyone always says what kind of wasted potential the Nexus is, but imagine what would have happened if they had won? Sure, they would have been over for you in the next weeks or maybe even months, but at some point everyone cools down and do you really believe that the "fans" would then watch a show where there are wrestlers that nobody knows? To put it badly, WWE would then have become an indie league, which now hand on heart: Would the Attitude era have been just as successful if The Rock, Kurt Angle, Steve Austin etc. didn't exist, but only Steve Blackman, Perry Saturn or Val Venis? I dare to doubt that. You can get upset about something in wrestling if it doesn't turn out the way you want, but then please consider another scenario. Unfortunately, there is no telling whether it was positive that The Nexus was defeated or negative. Negative for The Nexus, of course, but for the company? Nobody knows that.

I'm sorry but I always find Brey Wyatt very cute looking. He looks like a teddy bear 🐻. I don't find him any crazy cult dark whatever.

The Ambrose Asylum Match was also a terrible payoff. Other than the thumbtack spot and that bit where Dean grabbed nunchucks, Jericho was like "You don't even know how to use those!", Dean knew how to use those, and Jericho was comically shocked. The former was good and the latter was funny. Which in turn was a little bit of a negative. I mean, if you were going to be a violent match be that, if you were going to be tongue in cheek be that, or if you want to be a mix like Japanese Death Matches be that. Don't be tonally confused and poorly paced.
