This is the kind of movie that English cinema excels at. Top notch acting, great characters, a wonderful script, very low threat level, even very little drama really. A great, character-driven narrative with almost no budget, dealing gently but effectively with some big ideas. Thanks for sharing this fantastic treat.

In the U.S. it was only released to television by Flamingo Telefilm out of New York City under the title Immediate Disaster. This was due to a fear of legal action from 20th Century Fox, its plot being similar to Patricia Neal's earlier science fiction film The Day the Earth Stood Still, which in 1954 was still in theatrical re-release." We are used to movies into which have poured millions for SFX, VFX, prosthetics and more but, if you put all of that out of your mind you can watch this as a very good s-f film for 1954. Nothing campy or absurd even by the standards of that time. For me the greatest pleasure was the excellent, slightly understated script with naturalistic dialogue that neither insulted the intelligence of the audience nor was it cringey. A well made film that doesn't creak when viewed today. Thank you Great Uploader!!

Note that this film was made only 7 short years after the first big UFO sighting, at Roswell. Very few space alien films had been made, and it was long before the false narrative from the US Air Force started the weak "weather balloon" coverup excuse. Obviously many early UFO researchers teamed up to create the script for this rare gem.

Don’t you know? The whole UFOs from outer space idea was concocted by the CIA project to camouflage flights of experimental aircraft that the US was developing. The Venusian magnetic reversal power plant was taken from actual Nazi scientists’ research that was in development by war’s end. And the US got that engineering same as we got Werner von Braun.

@@franciscotorres5780 You say it's only a film, after all, dismissing the inaccuracies and focussing on the message of the film. Which is fine for a fantasy, a drama, or something of the sort. But this is a science fiction film, and it is my view that if you want to use that word to describe your film, you need to earn it. It cannot be credible science-fiction if there is not a hint of real science in it. Characters being unaware of complex technologies is one thing, but characters who represent relatively educated people should not be spouting something with such confidence when the thing they are saying is completely and utterly false. The line I refer to was either written out of a desire to impress and manipulate the audience with hyperbole, or out of complete ignorance. I think it is ignorance. It was lazy and disrespectful for the film to just assume we would all pretend that it was ok for the writer to fail at his job!

I wanted to give you some feedback on the translated subtitles, they are excellent, above all because they are not always the literal transcription of the dialogues and this is good because in this way the translations don't risk being too long. What I would like to point out to you is the fact that subtitles that are split into two lines are translated line by line and therefore their understanding suffers. If I may advise you, I would only do subtitles on one line, so they should be better. Thanks again for your work.😊

We are in the Twilight Zone now. Buckle up planet earth . ‘Non-human intelligence’: Schumer proposes stunning new UFO legislation Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), along with a bipartisan group of five other senators, introduced extraordinary legislation on July 13, suggesting that the U.S. government or private contractors may secretly possess recovered UFOs and “biological evidence of living or deceased non-human intelligence.” According to the legislation, “non-human intelligence” is defined as “any sentient intelligent non-human lifeform, regardless of nature or ultimate origin which may be presumed responsible for” UFOs. Rubio and Gallagher’s remarkable comments bolster two reports, citing MULTIPLE military, intelligence and private sector officials, that defense contractors possess MULTIPLE CRAFT of “ NON-HUMAN” origin."

Good movie. Rather slow moving but interesting, nonetheless. I always like to find little things about movies that make them special other than the acting, story, and plot. In this case, I find it interesting that Patricia Neal also starred in "The Day the Earth Stood Still" which comes from the same premise as this movie.

Loved this movie, such wise choices by those who could effect the outcome. So true that our science and technology is outrunning our own perspective on life, humanity and spiritual understanding of its negative consequences in the wrong hands. The recent 2023 maui fires caused by satelite DEW weapons belonging to Norad, supposedly the planets protective command shows how greed and control by those in power can work against humanity for there own agenda and gain.

A good film. In terms of producing the message, better than "The Day the Earth Stood Still", more explaining the whole reason for preventing Earth to use atomcis stupidly. Change the Earth's orbit, thereby upsetting the solar system, thereby threatening the entire solar system. A novel idea, but not crazy. Some scientific facts wrong, but it's a movie. Talent? A good cast. And Gretchen (Marigold Russell, her name reminds me of Honeysuckle Weeks from Foyle's War, what is it the British have about naming talent after flowers?) did a good job, a number of nuances in her acting came through.

The best thing about the movie was the beautiful automobiles of the time. Interestingly, at 1:05:20 the stranger claims his people will use directed energy weapons to retaliate. These weapons exist today. They have been used against innocent populations, most recently Lahaina Maui. Called DEW's. The colorization is excellent.
