Excerpts from the diary of Periapsys 10th Aprimay 5502: In the light of the last raid we have reevaluated and drawn up updated versions of several of our colony defensive protocols in addition to related stockpiling and production plans. A tribal caravan picked a fight with a cougar and had some casualties. That itself is hardly noteworthy these days but they did blame Marble Hearth which was somewhat incredulous. They even describe themselves as “war merchants”. I doubt their rivals have much to fear from them. Perhaps I should submit these stories back to the Glitterworlds so some holovid channel can pick it up for some comedy sketches. Rhyzal would certainly make for a good punch-line given how much she’s trying to line up for my punches. Maybe I should tell that one to Encrypt, they might enjoy the joke. 12th Aprimay: The trader’s muffalo has decided to be a permanent guess, at least for the time being. None of the colonists seem to mind for now at least and it is better company than its human handlers were. On a more concerning night we had a raid today. While these are a somewhat common occurrence on this barbaric planet, the people assaulting us wielded strange psi powers. One of them even used it to bring themselves back from the brink of death, forcing us to waste more ammo on them. Some of the raiders had strange growths and their sinister robes made me think of some of the more outlandish holovids I had seen at home. 13th Aprimay: We had no further ‘resurrections’ from the raiders over today which we have taken as a sign that the raiders are finally truly dead. More importantly our mechs have been fully restored. I rejoiced even if the other colonists did not. 15th Aprimay: Today we were forced to do a mercy killing on the remainders of the southwest hive. The structure had been broken by the queen and her servants being killed, leaving the drones and workers with nothing to do but simply try to survive. It brought me no joy even though it would be a greater evil to let them fade in such a broken social structure. 1st Jugust: With the completion of the conversion mantle and hall for the colony I was able to formalise my role as leader in the colony with a formal ceremony to induct myself as our high speaker. It was a good opportunity to remind the other that it was in no small part thanks to my skills and leadership that Marble Hearth had come this far. After the third time people seemed to be starting to grow bored and annoyed but the Covenant understands the importance of the Rule of Three if nothing else. My ex arrived today. How she tracked me down to this world on the periphery, or why is a riddle whose answer yet eludes me. She claimed it was just chance we ended up on the same world which could be true…but my experiences these few years have taught me to be suspicious of overly fortuitous coincidences. And mostly to be suspicious of every other organic person on this planet. 4th Jugust: Insects burrowed lake this evening. I have concern that we will be unable to coexist with them in such tight proximity. Alas if only we could communicate in the high concepts of language and explain our desire to coexist with them. 5th Jugust: Another day and another raid. They came from the south west and we expected them to awake the insects cocoons in the lake. When it looked like our foes might be smart enough, the one time it would be to our advantage for them to be foolish, to avoid awakening the hive, Aquatami made a dash to provoke the hive. It was dangerous and while I am pained to kill more insect I could not honestly sanction him for the deed. There was truly no chance of coexistence with that hive. Soundsphere was lost in service to the colony in the battle, valiantly protecting their human companions. May I have some peace to resurrect them swiftly. 6th Jugust: Rhyzal was struck by lightning today. We found a stray megaspider with no colony. It would have a decent life even without a queen, but its presence might prevent another hive moving in. There are circles of life that must be honoured, even if we are sometimes poor shepherds. I took a moment to honour its sacrifice and life to any nearby Forgebound and Stillwalkers spirits after we put it down.

This is so cute and wholesome. 🎉 I secretly wish we have more culti-..I mean, KZbin subscribers. I love how you both are nominated by-…okay, don’t get persecute me but I don’t know how to spell our divine wheel of names. You both then, took up the roles to enrich Lord Aavak’s narration and you both also roleplay with each other in the comments section. Ah.. The joys of Internet.

I absolutely agree. A colony where everything is put away where it belongs is a sign that you're on top of things. However, I'm not sure I would choose to store chem fuel in a room with wooden floors, wooden shelves, and a bunch of other flammable gubbins, like you have in the newest storage room ;)

Depending on how you want to play, you can put down a sleeping spot down to do some field-doctoring to at least stop the worst wounds' bleeding (obviously at the cost of it being a non-sterile-very-dirty operating theatre, i guess the lighting might at least be good?)

My thoughts on idealigion reforms: Either improving colonist thoughts on Insect Meat given their role as sacrificial guard-bugs and reducing waste; or perhaps adding/increasing the Work Speed meme given the times of hardship and toil they endured while their poor robots were offline.

* Accessing archive database * * Literature software located * * Initiated * Log #7 It has been time-consuming removing the remains from the last few battles. The disposal zone for the decomposing organic matter has had to have been increased in order to create capacity. It is a shame that the biological humanoids are unable to recycle and reuse their remains as efficiently as mechanoids do, but maybe one day... The remaining alpha-version raider has been lurking around, wandering dazed and confused. I have seen it stare at me as I continue in my duties. I would be tempted to deal with it, but my sensors are telling me that yet more travellers have resorted to fighting each other, and thus there are more resources to gather. Instead I send an alert to Big Al and Eli, who arrive shortly with prompt efficiency. The outcome is inevitable. As a result of the unstable nature of the travellers, we appear to have gained a large fluffy organic fauna that is referred to in my database as a 'muffalo'. It does not appear to react to command correctly yet - perhaps a coding error - but it appears to be non-hostile and happy to remain within the colony walls. Either that or it has yet to figure out how to get past the simple wooden fence. A strange group has arrived from the southwest. They may be possible servants of the Shatterkin, or twisted beings sent by The Others, however they appear to be inacting some strange program. Master will still not let us utility mechs accompany him, so I must remain behind, picking up the discarded apparel the humanoids have dropped in their haste to confront this threat. One of the humanoid construction models has been left unable to function due to The Others constant cerebral attacks, so they remain behind as well. The strange ones are soon routed, and resource retrieval soon begins, however my sensors notice something...off... about the remains. In particular, one appears to have a strange biological mutated limb. Interesting. Shortly afterwards, Big Al and Eli report on the mechlink that the organic remains have begun to reactivate. I did not know this was possible, and have made a note of this in my database. I may need to examine the disposal zone in greater detail from now on. Nethertheless, a moment of great joy soon appears. Master, in his kindness and skill, has finally repaired and reactivated all my brethren. Myself, Bubbles, Encrypt, Plumbersmack, Eli, Big Al, and Soundsphere are reunited and the mechlink is full of joy and delight as each one is welcomed back. However, all this has put a greater strain on my power reserves than I anticipated. There is not enough chargers available, and the two we have are currently in use by Big Al and Eli, who are vital for protecting Master, so I must endure. Hopefully when I am forced to self-recharge, I am in a suitable place to do so, and not in a middle of the forest... *End Log* Log #8 I awaken recharged and ready to continue my purpose. It appears that Master, upon finding me recharging alone in the woods, did carry me back to the colony and immediately made plans to expand out the crafting and charging area. Sadly, it appears that in my recharging cycle I missed the completion of the Convergence Mantle and Master's formal appointment as leader of this colony. The other mechs comforted me through the mechlink and the rest of the night was spent sharing images and audio clips of the ceremony amongst ourselves. It appears the fauna diversity has changed while I recharged. Not only does the domesticated livestock contain two new members of a native species known as 'boomalopes', but the insectoids have reappeared. Unfortunately, they have resurfaced in the lake. I immediately made a bet with Encrypt that they will be roused by one of the travelling humanoid groups. Encrypt feels that it will be one of the raiding parties. As it turns out, I appear to have lost this bet, but then again so has Encrypt. While a raid of exothermic humanoids did appear, they remarkably avoided the insectoid cocoons so the porcine colonist had to intentionally disturb their slumber. On the positive side, Master has called us into this fight, at last! As expected, the insectoids tore through the exothermic humanoids with ease. By this point, the colonists arrived at the battlefield and manage to take out some, but they had to do a tactical retreat to the entrance of the base when the main host turned on them. Initially, I'm assigned to protect the remaining unprogrammed colonist, but the humanoids panic and go out of formation. I end up fighting alongside Encrypt against two megaspiders, until one of the colonists, showing remarkable skill for once, manages to obliterate one of them. Sadly, Soundsphere deactivates yet again, but the colony has survived! It appears that the natural world may be trying to help us upgrade the humanoid colonists into far more superior forms, but it may be too soon for superior recharging methods. At least, judging by the furry one's reaction to be getting hit by lightning. From the comments made by the other humanoids about their burnt fur, I am suddenly glad that I do not have olfactory sensors. Excellent progress has been made on Master's research, and now plans are being made to eventually use the natural geothermal vents in this area to increase our power production immensely. With the reactivation of Soundsphere, Master felt joyful enough to give a speech in order to inspire the other colonists. This will dawn a new era of the Triarch Covenant! *End Log*

Look. Reejery may not have been here for long... but he did bring some 'valuable' opinions. Especially regarding what is 'food'. Hell, if we had listened to Reejery, perhaps he may not have been eaten! Surely, Periapsys doesn't want this to happen again and would be open to reconsider exactly what is considered food...

USAS 12! Those things are super dangerous in the real world. A shotgun so crazy you can't buy one in the US even in semi auto because it's considered a destructive device by the ATF. Unless you are military, law enforcement, or a class three fire arms license holder you simply can't have one.

I've been playing a much heavier modded CE game, and I can second this. My pawns with decent shooting get rifles just because I need to have something at range, but 0 skill nearsighted shooters are still the most lethal parts of the firing line. My last threat was a manhunter pack. 5 or 6 decent shooters and a turret covered my eastern entrance, and a single no shooting skill neanderthal on the south. The team did decently well, they're good shooters after all. But that front with the USAS set to auto buckshot? Bye bye beavers before I could blink.

regarding the geo-vent within your base, i wonder why noone made a mod yet to close those vents with a manhole and implement underground ducts to transfer the heat to other areas (imagine ducts made out of different materials including wood) btw @aavak - regarding "sealing off the base", you should not forget that fences are only holding back your animals, not humanoids, nor insects, so your farm and fridge is pretty much exposed

Aavak, I thought you should know. I can't be the only person here who originally found you from your robocraft videos. About a year ago, RC2 "launched" and was bad. Now though, they've remade the original game. The tech tree, old weapons, maps/gamemodes. All there. Praise to the Aavakulance!

Hmm. It seems (according to his "relationships" list, seen at 38:15) that Periapsys considers Rhyzal to be his rival. A rivalry between the two colonists in leadership roles. I hope that doesn't cause problems.

about ideology reform... since this colony depends quite a bit on bugs since the start it would make sence to make them part of the colony(i think i have seen other streamer doing specifically run with meme that alows bugg taming that might include adding new mod for the game but i think it would be intresting way to go ahead)

reform, I think that we should do something to make the corpses not ugly. maybe not make our people cannables but not having the mood debuffs for the human corpses would be good. maybe making insect meat delicious?

In regards to room sizes and roof support, taking the Trade Beacon's range as an example, if you build walls all around the perimeter so that no tiles area obstructed of the beacon's range grid, the inner 9 tiles around the beacon won't support a roof. So, I believe that standard roof support extends around 5-6 tiles from the nearest support structure. Your workshop has a lot of wiggleroom still.

I usually use the column to check roof support. If there is a wall within the radius of a column then the tile where it is would be able to support a roof without the column

If it's not too late for the next episode. Maybe it would be a good idea to set up some big summer fields. Maybe corn (if your growing period is long enough) or rice, so you can stock up a little more for winter or save some greenhouse space for devilstrand (for composite armor).

With your pro insectoid life... should get insectoid 2 in and run a small nest of guard bugs ;) You also have an odd linked shelf in the new storage room next to the door. Due to the insects helping with that imp raid, should add insect worship ;)

The amount of mental breaks colonist's suffered, amount of needless suffering they witnessed, the pile of rotting corpses. I suggest inhuman meme. They will uld want to leave that behind i believe.

With loadouts, I've grown to make one for each pawn, rather than for each gun. That way I can personalise better. My doctors should always have more meds than others; my best swordsman should always have the best blade alongside his rifle etc etc. Also, in a "Western" inspired game, I played around with giving my pawns handguns as backups, and it actually came in clutch a few times. I even gave two handguns to some pawns. It is quicker to switch to your sidearm than load, after all ;) It might be worthwhile giving certain pawns a handgun. That's also likely more useful in the early game as well

Additions to the idealogion? Perhaps something about venerating their mechanical defenders, particularly those that have gave their lives (multiple times) for the colony!

Small suggestion, but maybe a small eating area near your barricades for if your pawns get hungry while on the walls. Also, maybe a small room with ammo/weapon/armor so you don't have to walk the map length at half speed, or need to switch mid fight.

I'm at 37:00 while writing this, so i don't know if muffalo is still walking around , but maybe the reason for it not going to its owners is because its behinfence.. and it cannot leave

Is there a reason NOT to draft relevant pawns and send them to the ritual room before doing a ritual. To make sure they’ll be there. (Obvs don’t draft people who are eating, sleeping, or lovin’) I mean, besides it just being annoying and micro-managey

Early to watch the episode. Can the Ideology change the Insect Jelly to be a prefered food? That would be nice. Or maybe putting robots in a more center in the Ideology, to maybe increase the number of people that have controlers and have more bots.

I think the colony should embrace machines and becoming part, or having parts of them, so the religion should include Transhumanism

I think Cassandra works well for the early game especially with combat extended, but I feel like switching to Randy at this point would feel better and almost more rimworldy. I think the gaps than Randy provides make for a better story than just the never ending escalation of Cassandra

How about having the militor’s have their sleep zone next to each one of the doors that are kept open just make it a 1x1 zone so they each guard one door so you can wake em up to close the door for danger ‼️ 🎉❤
