Excerpts from the diary of Periapsys 8th Jugust, 5502: Another ‘sibling’ arrived today, this planet seems to grow brothers for me. As before I smiled and politely agreed and let him slip up. Like the last long lost brother I met he is also a town guard for Hinberium and I have little doubt that he is in on the scheme cooked up by Bishop. I will have to keep an eye on this Von. The muffalo leavings that were ‘left behind’ by the traders were an unwelcome gift that I was glad to have mechs and other colonists to clean up instead of that chore falling to me. I realised after sitting down to work on some EMP grenades that we were running low on components, so until we have a pressing mech threat we will use our components for other important projects. 9th Jugust: We repelled another raid today with the assistance and sacrifice of the Hinberium traders. I rescued one of them by the name of Dan, who seemed surprised by my momentary confusion and disinterest when he mentioned that Von had escaped safely from the raid. The man was a guard, if he was truly part of my family he’d have stuck around to defend his people at the least. Frustratingly the pigskins were more interested in trying to slaughter our animals instead of our colonists. I am not upset that we had no human or mech casualties especially given at least one of the raiders was eagerly tossing around grenades in the fray. However I find some strange outrage in both their animal cruelty and perhaps more insultingly that we were apparently not threatening enough to be their primary targets. Or maybe their gene-line has just been too diluted by the introduction of primitive animal genes. Marble Hearth will be licking our wounds for a while but our fortifications did their job, incomplete as they are. I will give a thankful prayer to the Stillwalkers tonight. 11th Jugust: It pleases me greatly to write that our food stores are full and well stocked. After our struggled for so long and having to eat meal to meal worrying it that it might be our last, this is an incredible relief. Admittedly much of it is kibble, but keeping the animals fed keeps part of our food supply alive and stable s well. I wonder if the strange woman from the traders who said she was leaving us forever is dead yet. She looked hungry and not entirely steady on her feet 12th Jugust: The woman returned claiming to give Marble Hearth a second change. Immediately after her proclamation her belly made a treacherous sound betraying her hunger and I had to turn so she did not see me roll my eyes at her antics. If my study table was not in the common room I would not even need to deal with her at all. 14th Jugust: Two strangers came to our doorstep today. One came from the sky in a transport pod that had gone off course and crashed. Our guest comes from the Refugee Empire and we will be happy to tend to her injuries and send her on her way, such kindness will be an investment in our future with them. The other stranger…well they are strange indeed. A blind man wandering around this world with only a knife to ward off the dangers of the wilderness immediately arouses my suspicions given the general ineptitude of most other armed and protected inhabitants of this planet. But the local born among Marble Hearth swore by the mystical healing powers of such people and insisted we invite him to join us here at Marble Hearth. I was ready to argue it more after remembering Little Eclipse’s turn but there was (perhaps to my disgust) still a part of me that hesitated at turning out a blind old man to face the wilderness alone. I only pray I do not come to regret this kindness in the future. Oh and Sigeko as I have learned that starving trader’s name to be, was trying to leave again. She had barely made it out of the walls before she needed to be rescued, but I have been informed that she died this afternoon. I do not know whether to pity her for her self-destructive tendencies or admire her for her stubborn adherence to them until the end. She was at least memorable enough for me to remember her name, an honour few of the outsiders who have come to Marble Hearth have earned. 15th Jugust: The sole surviving raider has been pressed into service. I do not plan to let him remain in the colony but am still deciding how best to present my plan to sell him to a neighbour with a collection of our more useless goods, to the more illogical colonists in Marble Hearth. It is my hope that their time among proper Triarchs will have gifted them at least some semblance of logic. Keeping the man is simply untenable and none among us would simply return him to our aggressors in the vain hope they will stop their attacks. My plan is both rational and logical, and this Rimworld is hardly the place to be chained by exorbitantly luxurious ethics. 1st Septober: A few our of colonists have parasites. I blame the pigskins from a week ago personally but there is no actual proof for this. Perhaps we will see a test of Manu’s power in the near future. A cougar has also begun hanging around and eating kibble if fed. Feeding it seemed a better choice than leaving it to grow hungry and forage for itself in the coop. I will discuss with those among Marble Hearth who have knowledge in animal handling as to whether it is worth trying to train and keep it.

You have been issued a cat. Accept and feed the cat. You need more space in the freezer, the cat will deign to assist you. Make it happy, it may choose to move items around the colony in a beneficial way. Or not. It's a cat. And of course, it will kill things. It's a cat.

If going transhumanist, the advent of cyborgism seems not too far off. As a fully integrated member of the colony, the cougar might want a bit of transcougarism for itself. Imagine a fierce, bionically enhanced attack pet with perhaps monofilament claws loyally guarding its colonist friends? Surely something like this has never been done before?

Keep the oversized kitten! You just lost the large fluffy cow, you have enough food. I saw rats walking arround between the chickens aswell that could feed the cat, where it does not eat enough enemies.

The kitten... cougar distribution system has spoken Aavak. There are some forces which are not to be messed with. ... Or you can take it with you on that caravan and sell it. As a hauler and possible defender from man-eaters, it's got value to keep and you certainly have the meat to keep it fed.

If you can train up the cougar quickly enough, you could have it accompany you on your next expedition. That should be enough to prove whether it deserves a more permanent place in the colony.

Funny thing that you missed during your narration: At 39:04, when you were angrily raving because the merchant (Shigeko) you saved gave up on the colony. a lightning struck the ground and almost hit the merchant AND your Boomalope just as you were saying "the Gods are angry with you!" Pure RimWorld Moment.

For Manu: Get him some clothing/armour (with like 4mm-ish RHA of protection) with as good coverage as possible, then make him a grenadier. Not even the "I have a weapon that shoots grenades" kind, but the good old "I have a bag full of grenades and I'm not afraid to throw them" kind. Yes, it might not be the greatest of ideas to put a healer at the forefront of your fighters, but, counterpoint; a blind pensioner with a craving for high explosives is a vibe

Keep the Kitty! also i think you should look into setting up a cremating zone coz hauling corpses is still a job(and u save some work just leaving them rot) they still hit mood hard while they decay in water since its not just seen rotting corpse stacking debuff but also hideous environment they see while they drag corpse to the pile. Good Job! dealing with raiders my colonies ussualy ends when i hit the mark of 15-18 explosive pig pirate raids...

I met The Great Old One in a time of desperate need. I've forgotten what exactly that need was, but it was worth all of my previous life experiences and my sight. Hopefully it was worth it at the time. I'm now left with the ability to heal others, and do so when able, but always with a warning. I know nothing is free. Everything has a cost. I've paid my price to get this ability, and those who benefit from it may also be required to pay. I dare not try to fathom what The Great Old One will gain from me using my abilities. I will stay in this colony, for now. Though I have lost most of what I was, the love and respect of animals and all they can provide keeps me sane. (Thanks for letting me have this character, Aavak! Hopefully he can be of use in taming the new war cat and quickly be able to save the next must have addition to the colony!)

1:08:40 Sounds like a smart plan. I always love compound-bases in rimworld. Few things are as satisfying as accepting a quest for a manhunter pack, staying inside, and then watching the next raid be destroyed by 83 angry racoons!

I think you knew the answer about the cougar before you even asked. I think it's a good idea to take care of the physic suppression. What if a 2nd drops nearby, if that's possible.

I suggest offloading some wealth, then cracking the suppressor. Because we know it does help with raids/harvesting traders.

Isn't that how everyone gets a cat? ... this one is a bit bigger than usual, but Cougars can purr, so it isn't technically a *big cat* like a lion or tiger.

Yay, flammables aren't going to burn down your storage system! With regard to your questions at the end - If you can find a way to mitigate the negatives for your colony, I'm in favor of leaving the psychic suppression up and running. Is there any chance you can have the cougar fight for you? And are you able to cybernetically modify it? Because I miss Yoko and think that the cougar could be a fun sequel murder pet.

I am not sure you need the supercharger as of yet for the transhumanist meme, not sure your colony wealth is high enough yet. Probably best to focus on getting deep drilling and fabrication done first, as you will need it either way to build all that stuff.

Currently your pond corpse stockpiles might signal a hauler to move a freshly rotted corpse from one stockpile to the new one a few steps away, If you want to fix this you can set the rotten corpse stockpile to a lower priority

Been playing along on the same settings and map and by jove, i've had to forgo using civilian clothing nearly altogether, there's not enough time between me being stupid and accepting quests to raids to de and re-equip armours and stuff so now they're just staying slightly slower beasts xD

i've also noticed the bigger pawns and/or the neanderthals will ALWAYS wear all the layers despite telling them not to. I can't seem to make my dudes and dudettes drop their extra clothing like bandoliers etc so ive had to go in and set sashes and stuff to be worn to reduce weight.

Oh, that's really interesting, I've not had too much of a problem with that, but will have to look into using sashes and the like to avoid certain clothing issues, great solution!

Been a while? I just finished episode 7 less than 12 hours ago! 😄 Yay for 8! As a note, I don't remember if it was a mod or base game, but I recall there being a meat rack buildable that functions as a shelf for carcasses. Looking at your cooler, you could use it! I seem to recall there was also a component mining site nearby you on the map. Dropping a trade spot/location will keep the traders (and their muffalo!) nearby, and not tracking mud and poo through your home

The kitten looks like a nice cape to me... just sayin'. As for the neural supercharger, I don't think it will help. by default there is no cap on a stat, so if you were to get say a 10% to conciousness you'd have 110% since there is technically no cap. What the suppressors is doing is putting a cap of 50%. It doesn't matters if you raise how much you'0d have by 10 or even by 100% if you are still capped to 50%. Now I could be wrong and the neural super charger also increase maximum cap but I don't think it does.

Idk if you know this or not but R to draft and undraft a colonist quickly will save a good amount of clicks and click fatigue ( idk if that’s just a me thing though 😂)

Sooner waste resources, than waste lives; again for those who seem to have missed it, this is my first run in CE, and this is probably the first real raid with comparable firepower to ours. Caution will be the order of the day until I'm better versed in how lethal gunplay is for our colonists :P
