When working with oil paints like this, do you need special ventilation or is an open window enough? Same question for airbrushing.

I know I am super late this so not sure this will get seen. I finally have all the paints gathered for the white scheme. My only question is when you varnished everything? I have an issue recently with the oil washes: very thin oil wash tends to flow down in to the base of the model from the crevices, especially from the top of the model (I am using 1 coat of gloss varnish).
