Lovely stuff. Picked a couple of the Alchemy paints from Scale 75 after seeing them in your vids, I really like how they can give your golds a different look. Looking forward to the Death Guard video in this series. Also, please keep this music moving forward. It's so chill. It almost reminds me of the sort of music you'd hear at the end of a feel good 80s film.

Using GW washes with an airbrush look awseome. I think I'll try that for the skin of my Slaanesh demons Warcry warband.

They are good filters/glazes. They have quite a matte finish when sprayed but as we were varnishing afterwards that wasn't an issue.

Really loving this purple - a very helpful and informative tutorial! Although I was (pleasantly) surprised to see no edge highlighting this time - is this because its for the HH and HH players tend to have soooo many infantry models to paint?

A few reasons really. We want the army painting videos to be as accessible as possible, and reducing edge highlighting certainly makes them quicker/simpler. There's also the fact that a lot of the heresy style paintjobs tend to not have edge highlighting to help further differentiate from 'Eavy metal style. The battle damage can do a very similar job.

Beautiful work, I've been looking forward to this one! Makes me wonder though: would it be worthwhile doing the pre-shade highlight over a basecoat of hexed lichen in place of 'underlighting' the hexed lichen later on?

Awesome work! Love the Emperor's Children, the purple always looks so cool. (possibly stupid) Question - when doing the weather with the sponge, why do you use grey before applying the Leadbelcher? Is there a specific reason you can't just sponge on the Leadbelcher in one step?

Purple is pretty rad isn't it. For the chipping we think it looks nicer where you have some areas of corrosion e.g. grey or brown, and then fresh chips in silvers.

You've a few options but we;d go for either; add the edge highlights in white at the preshade stage or paint in with the beaten purple/squid pink mix after Druchii.

Love the series, as a general question do you always assemble the whole space marine before painting? Do you rebase them later?

Glad you're enjoying them. Generally i will assemble as much of the model as possible when army painting, on mk4 armour there are quite a few straps to get to so i blu tac on the backpack and weapon hand, airbrush/oils etc then remove and do details. With regards to basing this scheme is so simple that the base can be painted with the model glued to it.

Hi guys, great tutorial as usual! I was wondering though if you could do me a favour and give a list of tamiya paints that you would say are essential and would cover general needs for someone who has just got an air brush and wants a good foundation of paints to start with for it.

Tamiya Flat Black, Flat White, Neutral Grey. Then if you want to play with the clears pick a colour you like ( red is always a winner). That will give you colours you'll always use and help you decide if you want to explore the range further. Also pick up a big bottle of X20a thinner.
