Because he’s a Frankie. “They exist in a liminal space of human subjectivity” This made me laugh at first, but now I realise how accurately this describes a feeling I’ve been having lately. I’m in a burnout and have been pretty much forced to do very little for the past months, sometimes just staring at the ceiling for hours on end. It’s this feeling of loneliness combined with an extreme awareness of existence and time. Everyone and everything around you is passing by, but you are standing still just observing. It is the feeling of being outside of time, in a way. Your description finally made me understand it and allowed me to put it into words. You’re a genius Frankie! 🔥

Some introverts are so introverted that their own brain suppresses that self-importance feeling to the point that they don't even feel it or realise they care so much about themselves, making those replays of embarrassing situations feels 100x worse, because they fail to realise that not a single random person remembers them, and anyone who did, just dismissed anything potentially awkward as 'they were just nervous'

That last point is important -- we all worry about what people think about us at any given time, but the sad, freeing reality is that nearly everyone yoy worry thinks badly of you doesn't think of you at all, except perhaps in passing or as part of a fleeting memory of their own that you'll never know. Be free, fellow sufferers of paralytic social anxiety, worriers of legend all. You are free to live your own life.

I’m glad I’ve grown past the point of believing I’m secretly everyone’s whipping boy. Now I realize they’d have to care about the boy-in some negative fashion-to actually pay attention to him. The only time I get social attention is when I do something that inconveniences another person, no matter if I’m helping someone else; even in online spaces in which the perturbation is only a few lines of text on the screen viewed while mindlessly scrolling. I know I’m not alone in this: I wish those loud and stupid types were half as withdrawn as I am and I wish I was half as assertive as those types are.
