Boy George the lead singer of Culture club was the first openly gay pop star in the UK and is a National treasure - loved and respected throughout the UK. One talented, big hearted, funny man, who has faced drug addiction and prejudice like a warrior. Thanks for the video + good reaction Luv.

I don't think he was the first openly gay popstar. In fact he was closeted to the public for a few years and avoided questions about his sexuality. He came out in the late 80's .Jimmy Sommerville with Bronski Beat were openly singing about being gay. National treasure is debatable. Why would anyone think that of him after he handcuffed, beat and imprisoned a male escort at his home?

The song is really about Jon Moss who's the drummer of the group. Boy George and Jon were more than band mates. In fact they were lovers. Boy George is basically singing about how Jon was hurting him emotionally, and denying they were in a relationship.
@ManuelAlejandroCopaira11 ай бұрын
he said the song wasn´t about jon moss . it was made for his former lover...another singer...find the movie worried about the boy...

@@lordmaul3 what?! No😭 George has literally said it was about Kirk Brandon (his ex lover) and even if you don’t believe that, the timeline wouldn’t add up between him and Jon because they weren’t even together at the time the composition.

Think of the balls it took for Boy George to go with that look in the 80's. It was brave. I mean it's hard to even imagine record labels accepting him and this song so long ago. I'm not even some superfan but ya gotta respect him, that was like 40 years ago! I never really thought about it until now.
@rudyzk Жыл бұрын
He was succesful, because he's got talent, not because he is gay. In the 80's the people who were different, unusual and talented were the ones the record labels were looking for.

Black face in Europe was an element of vaudeville shows, it does not have the same weight as in the USA.

I loved me some Boy George and his makeup was gorgeous. I always said that he could teach some of these women how to apply makeup. He's a real cutie. He had that soft voice and his little dance moves. He was bold and free. You can't help but like him. 🤗💖 I could be wrong but he was the only man that came out with makeup on like a woman. At least that I remember, not counting Little Richard.

You're energy is marvelous and you look&feel stunning. Culture club music is a mixmash of styles. All representing different genres into one unique sound This song touches me it's like when you see an old flame and try to rekindle what's lost and at the same makes blush&cry. Love is for all and it's free💥💥💥💥

He is in court for offending public decency. Homosexuality was a crime until the late 1960's. If somebody had gone around looking like him in those eras they would have been beaten badly & then locked up.
