Peter Sonski and Lauren Onak are a grandfather and mother of young children discouraged by both political parties who want to have an influence on civic life in the United States by running presidential and vice-presidential candidates for the American Solidarity Party. With a platform based on Catholic Social Teaching, focused on the dignity of the human person, they present a third-party option. Sonski and Onak report increased interest in the ASP in the wake of the Republican party’s new platform on abortion. In conversation with National Review Institute’s Kathryn Jean Lopez, the candidates address the obvious question about “wasted” votes and more.
