See, this is the bias of black people: they think Africa MUST belong to black people only. This is racist and arrogance. Blacks own land in Europe. Blacks own land in America. Blacks have no problem with these facts. Reality: whites own land in Africa and this is Gods will. So go deal with God on this matter and stop this biased arrogance that some how a pease of Earth has a black skin color only. God said: go forth, multiply and cover the earth. Our South African media tends to focus on selective information, often neglecting coverage of conflicts in other African countries like Ethiopian war. I agree. It is not just in SA. This strategy is applied throughout the continent. The media spreads lies and propaganda faster than the truth and have effectively maintained division through selectively showcasing or hiding news across Africa. One has to either travel or watch KZbin to learn more about other African countries, while minor wars in Western countries get the most coverage.
@ravenblack70525 ай бұрын
I was aware of the war in Ethiopia as well as the peace summit we hosted here. I love this continent and its people so, knowing our media focuses on SA news, especially politics as well as the West (Europe and the USA), I make a concerted effort to draw information from multiple news sources so as to stay better informed. I pay close attention to the goings on at the UNGA and UNSC - only way to get the truth. Our media (including the "no fear, no favour" Daily Maverick) is heavily tilted towards whatever the US propaganda angle is - no does propaganda like the USA! I hope the rest of Africa takes the lesson from our elections, put their people first and put an end to tyrannical rulers and their bloodthirsty quest for power (we've our menace in Zuma - my mother is Zulu and he thankfully does not enjoy the support of all Zulus). Africa needs peace. Africa needs prosperity. If we can finally turn our country around with the GNU, perhaps we can become the beacon of hope for the people of the continent to strive to achieve in every country across the continent. ✌🏽☮️ 🕊

Loved your presentation...it's so refreshing to get such a well thought out and measured outsider's perspective. 👏🏾 👌🏾 True, we're not paying a lot of attention to the brutal wars and intractable conflicts taking place on the continent, as much as we're preoccupied with other situations of conflict elsewhere at the moment. It's a shame that after such progress with continental governance and multilateral institutional frameworks, we still have such carnage, ethnic cleansing, massacres, and genocides against our beautiful African people. My country has been at the forefront of peace work and enforcement in Africa - having committed a lot of money to these efforts...the same can be said regarding its contributions to sparking the work initiatives on the African Renaissance project. For Africa to defeat these despotic leaders and overcome conflict and death, it will require mobilization of our people across nation-states...including dealing decisively with the enslavement of black people in North Africa and West Asia, tackle human trafficking and other exploitations that are grotesque, debasing and a threat to life and security for Africans. To be on the record, I am totally opposed to the idea of Orania. I am one among many South Africans who believe it's an extra-constituonal arrangement that's likely to present national security problems in the future. White people are homeless even in Europe and North America - it's not a unique feature to South Africa that this is made to be. Industrial urban environments have this feature of homelessness in many countries.

Weyni, I think the issue of Tigray should convince you why it make sense to have Orania. That way you can have the separatist safely in one place and let the majority enjoy sharing their intercultural space without the disturbances of those minorities. I hope my likening the Orania issue with that of Tigray is not landing as if I'm labeling them as separatist, however the Whites in Orania can be said to be longing for an independent state like the Tigranians want to breakaway from the rest of Ethiopia, which in the true since are both looking for a separate state from the mainland country as per UN recognition of countries.
@thondoyaenterprise37955 ай бұрын

@TheTobs504 ай бұрын
Great one can learn a lot from these insights from a person who for very good had to leave her country where by now up to a million people had been killed in a two year civil war, in spite of Ethiopia being a democracy... that few people even in Africa seem to know about. Yet the most devastating experience for you had been to visit Orania where the residents (whites) run an efficient own municipality, have no need of a police force or even civil service, not a cent of government taxes, run their own water filtration system, own solar power plant, do all their building, maintenance, training, roads, medical services, security and education by themselves... Whereas the SA government co-funds all other municipalities of whom about 80% regularly receive a basic assessment failure... and despite probably 80% of South African towns and villages being blacks only. One African politician who recently visited Orania made this revealing statement: instead of blindly decrying Orania for "moral" reasons, why not learn from their achievements and use it (i.e. their METHODOLOGY) for EVERY town in South Africa and work towards becoming self-reliant, safe, growing, responsible, etc etc.? Or would a genocidal murder of all whites, as proclaimed by some African politicians be a more acceptable scenario? As a cultural anthropologist the question should've been: how on earth did these whites (hate them or not) achieve since 1991 what they did, and how can others learn from that? The answers may well give rise to some hope. However, if you prefer instead to follow the example of the systematic destruction of the country as a whole since 1994, then there is no hope of a better future.

I love your content and your culture shocks when it comes to South Africa are valid. Don't be surprised though. Most South Africans are peaceful people. Its just a few miscreants that hold the country to ransom. White owned media also perpetuates the negative narrative about the country and focuses on news that is beneficial to them, such as the Russia Ukraine war at the expense of wars on the continent. On a separate note, and perhaps this might be remotely related to the topic under discussion, I had my own culture shock as I travelled through your country (Ethiopia). The level of harassment I experienced was beyond ridiculous. Europeans and Asian were breezing through your airport like it was their play ground. Unbothered! At the same time myself and 2 African colleagues were stopped, harassed and questioned at every turn. I know Tayo Aina shared his experience on this topic too. I can't call this racism, as I consider Ethiopians as Africans, but this is clearly self-hatred in the highest order. I think you should shed some light on this, seeing that the AU headquarters is situated there.

@@planB-BacktoAfricaabout Orania, I as a black SAn, I don't care abt it, but I care abt black leadership/gov that have a direct effect on my life and the price of things + opportunities. Lots of African countries have black leadership but are in disarray! Do they love their ppl? No!!! Yet Africans love using Orania as a got you point etc. White men isn't a black man's problem but i black person in power has wilded so much pain and hardship on another black person! A lot of basic essentials that we used to have in SA and took for granted are gone under Black leadership. So let those whites isolate themselves and create their own haven!

SA democracy was a negotiated settlement and therefore so many concessions were made. In other countries there were civil war and one dictatorship for decades.
@robertabrahams75934 ай бұрын
Still today, even with our relatively peaceful coexistence, there are a cohort that believe a civil war would have been the answer. Can you believe someone would choose 30 years of war and innumerable loss of life, just for a clique of leaders to lead their best lives.

I totally agree with you that our fellow africans are more informed and involved in what is going on in the rest of the world than what is happening in Africa.

Feeling shocked by a very small racist town and then claiming that apartheid still exists because of this small town is crazy. South Africa has around 59.89 million people... so a small town of 4000 racist people does not mean that apartheid is still alive. I do, however, agree with your statement that no argument warrants the existence of such a town. The racism in our country is manifesting less and less with each generation... it's more the older generations that still feel very strongly about the issue (but they then obviously influence the younger generations with their teachings, stories, and way of life).

Thank you my beautiful African sister listening to your voice and your video really soothed my heart. Since I discovered Ethiopia in the Bible in the creation story Genesis 1. my heart has been yearning to go visit what's left of the whole land of Ethiopia. The Bible says Havilah is Southern Africa and Ethiopia is the whole land. You left me in tears for my rainbow nation. 🇿🇦 South Africa I am from Cape Town I wish I had met you here. thank you for showcasing our nation in such a positive light God bless you my African sister please come back and stay in Cape Town you fit in very well and blend in with a coloured community amen. we love Africa

Orania has not a rule that only whites should stay there. It just happened because of the association. Soweto is just black and no whites, and that does not shock you. Unfair. Some towns are just portuguese and no one complains about that.
@WaitseMfethu4 ай бұрын
This is so stupid and pathetic.Soweto is a creation of apartheid that threw black people while the colonisers were given prime real estate.Orania was created as a reaction to the fall of apartheid in oder to create a white only enclave.White people are not denied a chance to live in Soweto, they have no interest as they live in superior areas.

A mass grave of civilian victims in Hawzen, Tigray. As of May 2023, the combined impact of wartime violence, famine and a lack of medical access had killed an estimated 162,000-378,000 people, with other reported estimates reaching numbers as high as 600,000 killed. Some of us South Africans do know about this as well as the Hootsies & Tootsies war in Rwanda

I had read about the various wars in African countries but I can understand that there are South Africans who have not heard about this. I agree with what you say. Unfortunately SA has large areas where rainfall is scarce. Maybe at some time in the future the government will be able to develop some of these areas to provide housing and jobs for the people.

Orania isn't about apartheid, there are places in South Africa that is traditionally Zulu and Xhosa and any tribe. If a white Afrikaaner go into a traditional Zulu village and want to buy a house there and live there then of course they will say no. I'm not gonna call them racist it's not about race it's about culture. They can have there traditional villages and be traditional and celebrate there culture on a farm or a small town. There is no problem with this. Why would I even want to live there... I am not gonna go there to spite them or intrude in there culture. In South Africa it's different. We have many cultures here and we agree on many important things such as the law and constitution but we also respect each other's differences and culture. This is what our goal is..

The difference between what traditional black areas and Orania is that they don't have their own flag, and currency though, this is a community that doesn't recognise a so called newly formed country..

We (zulu) are natives. Boers are colonialists, no comparisons there
@rikussmit47335 ай бұрын
@Dability anyone can make there own currency. You don't even need a city or town or farm to do that. Look at bitcoin and etherium. I think every town in South Africa has a flag or crest. Every school has a little flag, even some businesses jave it. So to give orania a flag means nothing.
@rikussmit47335 ай бұрын
@louismkhize8407 The Zulus are just as native as the boers. And remember, the boers had an alliance with the Zulus till you killed ur own leader Shaka.. and then you let the real colonizers in. The British. Don't make your corruption and tribalism other peoples problems. You know for a fact that the Bantu tribes came from central africa. And around 1600s came into SA through Mozambiques side. For the western part of the country, however, the boers were there before the zulus. In fact, the other black tribes even gave the boers land to separate themselves from the zulus and make a buffer area. It's well recorded
@GodcaresDube5 ай бұрын
No the Zulus and Xhosas have no rule that says if you are not from our tribe don’t stay here KwaZulu-Natal and Eastern Cape( Xhosa land) has white people owning property there but there is no black person owning a property in Orania. Another truth is that Zulus and Xhosas are natives where as Afrikaners in Orania are Europeans descendants their forefathers created apartheid system. Enemy’s of God, racist people.

You have a fair opinion and coolness of Ethiopian who grew up surrounded by whites, on your move to Cape Town though i would recommend you to reconsider the decision, Cape Town is not a friendly city especially if you are black it's nice for holidays but permanently staying there kinda sucks it'sexpensive too. The place i would recommend for you to consider is Midrand in Joburg, it's vibrant, people are super friendly, it's multi racial and all races get along with each other. It has good schools for your children and job opportunities are available.
