Too true! I feel bad for people that can't come and check us out. We're so freakin' far away! And most of us here don't seem to want to go anywhere else, except for a squiz. Neal, a 'squiz' is being curious, wanting to 'have a look'.

I live in Adelaide in South Australia. I remember the waves of Vietnamese boat people refugees in the mid 1970s coming to Australia. Many settled in Adelaide. They initially lived in government housing in large clusters. They worked hard. Their children studied hard in the Aussie public schools. And they began to open their own shops, selling Vietnamese foods and spices. Australian cuisine then took a sharp turn for the good. Which pleased me no end, being a Canadian expat who has lived in other countries. The Vietnamese were followed by Thai, Laotian, Cambodian, Malaysian, Philippine, and then Indian and Sri Lankan. This follows on from the waves of European migration post WW2, and their foods. I love going to the Adelaide Central Market, where there is a 'smorgasbord' of International cuisines. Given the review from this vloger, why would I want to be anywhere else? And my eldest son informs me that a new stall has opened in the Adelaide Central Market which does genuine Spanish tapas. And he has spent time in Barcelona, and says it's as close to the real thing as you can get.

Hole in the ozone layer is a urban myth. Pretty sure Australia is closer to the sun in summer due to Earth's orbit and as we are in the southern hemisphere.

Google is your friend. Education is paramount to a solid, well researched, no holes argument. Science is not something you make up . like an urban myth.

Our kids have uniforms so they don’t get picked on for being able to afford named product, even our poorest people. Ever parent are given a steifen every year per child to cover uniforms,books and fees up until they turn 16 or May be 18 if they can prove their child is still in school. Uni is expensive but we can defer all fees which you don’t have to pay back until you start earnings over a certain amount. Then when you submit your tax form when you start work you tick that you have HEC‘s fees and it gets taken out of your pay each pay day until you pay it off. I did my nursing in later life and my view was you don’t miss what you never had.

You do see koalas in the wild infringing into suburbia in Adelaide and there is a place in Adelaide called Cleland National Park and you can hold a koala and have your picture taken with one. I did ages ago. Cleland has the same sort of thing as Australia Zoo because you can walk amongst the koalas. I had one come from behind and put its massive arms around me and I freaked out. The ranger came up to me and asked if I had my period right now? I said "Yes at the moment I have them, why?" Well apparently the kangaroo can sense blood. I remembered that so I never travel near to kangaroos when I have my periods again. I was having a fit over what was happening, and Japanese tourists were there clicking away thinking it was a great joke.

HI Neal its not the ozone the causes such high skin cancer rates in Australia, Australia and New Zealand have the world's highest skin cancer rates. Factors include the large percentage of the population with fair skin prone to skin cancers and the high levels of ambient UV radiation. In addition, "During summer, the earth's orbit brings Australia closer to the sun (as compared to Europe during it's summer), resulting in an additional 7% solar UV intensity. coupled with our clearer atmospheric conditions, this means this means that Australians are exposed to up to 15% more UV than Europeans.;
@marcusversace942317 күн бұрын
The ozone layer issue no longer exists and goes back over 30 years ago before the banning of CFC gases. Australia has high skin cancer rates as we are outdoors more and fair skinned, same as Canadians have high incidents of diabetes due to their climate and Indians have high incidents of mouth cancer to spices consumed

You can pay for your university education after graduating when you have a high enough paying job. The money is taken out of your pay like a tax. It's called HECS, Higher Education Contribution Scheme.

Neal, when I lived in Brisbane (where this lady is touring), I would walk from my house to the free beach in the morning, have a swim, then walk to work. Brissy is beautiful. She is spot on about eh spiders, insects and animals, are not trying to get you, they are just living their lives. If I didn't have a fly net on my sun hat, I would get anything done outside, flies are bastards.

Living here is expensive, a single young adult has to live with house mates to move out of home for the 1st time. If you can't find housemates to split to the bills and rent with, you're stuck living with your parents who will ask for cheap board money until you can move out. Other than housemates/roommates, you can find a partner to start a family with but even then one has to be financially stable to afford to raise a family. Also, Australia has a lot of Vietnamese communities that first appeared during the Vietnam war. The US and Australia took in children of war, even parents would run out to the armies to hand their children over for safety and Australia took in the more sickly children because of Australia being closer. The children were returned to their families after the war except for the children who lost had no one left from the war who ended up becoming citizens of the US and Australia through adoption and foster systems.

Many of the naval bases are in the country and we did have a lot of koalas in the trees and walking down the street. Wild animals in nature we teach our children to just watch an let them be. If you touch some wild animals (because of your scent on them) their family may reject them.

College/ University...expensive..NO, for Australians you have a thing where you don't pay as you go but you do PAY when you get a job IN YOUR DEGREE category, and it is called HEX, so when you have a good paying job, you pay back the money ! So up front it is free.

HEY?? The upcoming baby - don’t know wot flying regulations are but re immigration - if your child is Australian (born in Australia) I believe the parents get it easier to move over?? Now not hundred % but it might be something to look at. Or wot about (yes yes money is an issue) if you buy a crappy house in Oz (surely u can buy online and peeps here will give Ithe skinny not only on the area but more than likely on the house itself) and rent it, surely that gives you an easy way into the country even once a year?? Just prove u visit the house during that annual pilgrimage. (Just trying to help (costs etc - hell I understand lack of money but u have enthusiasm). Make it happen before the enthusiasm dies. You want to visit - make it happen my man (just remember to drop in when u do). Cheers Sam
