I have a 50lb, female, 1/2 chocolate lab X English bulldog. She's golden eyed, chocolate, with a pit bull look face. She's a sweet heart, and she "had" idiopathic head tremors, and they were daily. Finding nothing in " veterinarian world", I wondered about the gut/ brain relationships, and had heard rumors, so I started giving her a tablespoon or maybe 3, roughly poured in her food and mixed, of kefer and the whey, at least once a day. The head tremors stopped within a day as I remember.She hasn't had any tremors one time in 3 years. She had a few tremors, but just once, for a couple days when I quit giving keifer/ whey to her, only because I ran out of Keifer/ whey for a week or so. As soon as I got her back on the kefer, the tremors stopped and she hasn't had tremors since. I started this around 3 years ago. I never will run her out again , now that I have experienced this. The head tremors are heart breaking to deal with, and I'm sure very hard on them, having many negative effects on their well being. The keifer is a miracle for little miss Mocha. Good video, thanks.

My French Bulldog had very itchy ears. Tried everything until in desperation I started giving her kefir both as good and topically. Ears completely cured in a few days.

Hi Donna. I've been making kefir for over a year now but had no idea of how many uses it and the whey has. I'm struggling to find your recipe for whey lemonade. Can you point me in the right direction please. Bx

Thanks for the info! But what I kept hearing was "non fat milk" I have never made kefir with non fat or low fat because I have read it make lousy kefir. Never mind using non fat for cheese! So wondering how you have accomplished good results using this method. Would also be interested to know what the carb/sugar numbers are with whole milk.

I make a lot of Greek style yogurt. Can I use that whey similarly?
@claireryan80742 ай бұрын
You bet! That’s the kind of whey I am using. I add a shot (1/4 cup) into my electrolyte water for increased flavor and extra benefits.

So I am lactose intolerant. Can I still consume the kefir whey?
@rmacrae80523 ай бұрын
I'm not lactose-intolerant myself but everything I've read says yes. Lactose is a sugar in milk which is almost entirely eaten by the kefir grains (like 99% conversion). Whey is just the liquid strained off the kefir.

I really wish you could answer my question regarding possible uses for garlic whey ...
@gracecotton98192 жыл бұрын
Ash Lang Perhaps she doesn't know, and people don't like to admit when they don't know something. May be you are the first to use garlic in this way. Your question was a few months' ago, now, and I wonder if you were able to sort anything out. Do hope so.

What is garlic whey? How did you make it? Unless I'm mistaken, whey is only a milk product. Is it made by fermenting garlic in kefir whey? I put garlic and ginger into a small jar with some fresh kefir whey recently. Within 12 hrs the jars lid was nearly bursting at the seams. I added 2 of the fermented cloves and less than the recommended amount of salt to a 1.5 liter jar of fresh vegetables in water. Peppers, carrots, beets, turnip... and in about two days all the vegetables have more or less burst. Burping the jar is a violent experience and it blows my mind how reactive it is. I don't know if the garlic adds to the reaction or if just using a bit of whey does the same.

Hi Donna, I need some advice pls. I make garlic kefir cheese by adding a clove or 2 to the just-made kefir and leave it in the fridge overnight. I don't know how to use the now garlic-flavoured whey. I also wonder if by adding garlic whether it disturbs the bacteria/fungal balance ...

While waiting for the Kefir to ferment does the milk go off?
@mrsfarmwife843 жыл бұрын
It shouldn't. The fermentation process changes the milk. I have never had milk "go off" in all the years I have been making kefir.

I’m trying to figure out how to make whey?
@binathere257411 ай бұрын
Let the kefir over ferment. The whey will be at the bottom. The cheese will be at the top of the jar.
