i have owned the cumberland for 4yrs. now and have not experienced any of your issues. I would recommend the cumberland over any other float tube: it sturdiness, manueverability, storage capacity, weight capacity (350lb), durability. The inflation valves are a HUGE plus. They dont interfer with equipment storage and are very easy to use, filling the tubes quickly. I would steer away from float tube fins and invest in dive fins. you will receive more power and more maneuverability with dive fins with minimal expenditure of energy. I bought tube fins and it was the worst decision i ever made with my tube. I graduated from float tube fins to snorkel fins to dive fins and am glad i did. float tube fins are a waste of time and money

Comments and observations. Have float tubed from the early 80s with round tubes with truck tire inner tubes and owned all kinds of tubes, U-boats and dual pontoon types (Fat Cat and Cumberland). The Cumberland is far superior by a long shot but what I observed you doing is precisely what I and others didn't do correctly. The back seat MUST be adjusted (and tag end of the strap tied in a knot) so you sit in the upright, not reclining position. No matter what flippers you use (Caddis regular or Ultralight are best) they won't work if you are reclining and all you do is swirl water and get exhausted. Very simple fix. Secure the backrest so you sit upright and aren't reclining. Best wishes, Don

Hi Don, Thanks for watching, and your comment. The next time I used the CUMBERLAND I made a video " Classic Accessories Cumberland Float Tube Revisited. I actually did tie the seat in place, and used better flippers. I had the same issues as far as keeping my angle while working my baits. The flippers I used did work a lot better as far as movement though. I do mention in this video how if I wanted to get better movement I needed to lean forward and that's what prompted me to tie that seat in place. This float tube has been used by three different people and we all had the same issues. The problem in my opinion is your sitting to high out of the water, and the wind catches the large pontoons in conjunction with not getting a good push with short stiff flippers. Again thanks for watching, and giving your opinion on this tube.

Agree with some of your opinions on the Cumberland but I don't seem to have the same movement issues but I am very tall so that helps with the size

Yeah the high profile of the Cumberland catches more wind than versions where you sit lower in the water. The White River is like sitting in a lazy boy chair fishing. Thanks for watching and the comment!

The float tube I have (White River) can be a little bit of a pain to find. I've had two, the first one lasted over 10 years, and my newest one I found on Ebay. I'll keep an eye out, and if I see one I'll let you know. Thanks for the kind words about the channel! I'm new at this so hopefully each video will get better.

Any chance you could link to the type of fins you use? I use Classic Accessories fins, they look similar to the Outcast ones in this video, but look a bit smaller. They work, but don't provide a lot of thrust. I use the Cumberland tube shown in this video, although I really like it... but it is a bit of a bear to paddle against the wind, due to how high up out of the water it sits. Slightly larger, more flexible fins, may make it a little easier... but I have no idea what sort of diving fins to even look at. (let alone which would fit large enough to fit my size 13 feet with waders.
