Great comparison review. Your video definitely helped me pick my first float tube. 😎👍

Really nice comparison video. As you pointed out, pros and cons to each and the best tube will likely differ for each individual. I have a couple things to add: 1. Sitting partly in the water makes you less vulnerable to being blown around. The higher you sit, the more wind you will catch. 2. "Float Tube" fins are very inefficient and not very durable. Get an actual pair of scuba fins and your speed will increase dramatically with far less effort. Go to a scuba store and ask if they have any used fins. Trust me, you will never use float tube fins ever again.

Wife saw the Caddis Nevada in Costo and picked up two. Very similar to that Teton. I was wondering about them compared to the Fishcat which I had seen in our fly fishing shop. We hike into remote mountain ponds, so looks like my wife did good! The other two really don’t look ideal for a few mile hike in and then a few mile hike out. Thanks for a very informative video!

Having been through about 8 float tubes over the last 20+ years (round, cheap U shape, better catamaran U style, now a Fish Cat Cruiser). None of the others compare to the comfort and ease of control of the fish cat. It’s fast, comfy, maneuverable and durable. They also have excellent customer service. I’m not affiliated with them in any way, just sharing what I’ve learned from experience. The stripping basket that you didn’t care for makes the boat so much easier to get in and out of. The crossbars are structural in the others and the boats will sag inwards (closing the U shape). 100% fly fishing from all of mine. YMMV.

Good feedback! Thanks for sharing your experience. I know all about the sagging and twisting of the pontoons, annoying. Even with our limited experience, my wife won't even go if she can't use the fishcat. She is totally spoiled. So I may be getting one someday soon 🙂

@@anesthesiadreamin at least take a look at the cruzer model of the fish cat. The oars aren’t perfect, but they can give your legs a much needed break and moving into the wind isn’t nearly as tiring

@@anesthesiadreamin of course. It’s great when KZbin can bring people together instead of being a big mess of arguments. I think you’ll be happy. I have been with mine. And 3 years and Zero issues. Just FYI. If you get any Outcast boat, make a little leash for the stripping apron. They are kind of easy to lose.

Awesome! I think that's my favorite of the three. To me it's the best balance of speed, more of my legs in the water so I can kick more efficiently. Hope it works really well for you!

@@anesthesiadreamin I have a really old pair. They are basically a heel cup with sort of a hinged "wing" attached to the side. There is a strap over the top of your foot to keep them in place. I used them to fish for largemouth for several years. Pro - you can face into the wind and stay in one spot with little effort to fish most any type of cover. Con - they're slower than a three toed sloth after switching to Decaf...

How do you air them up?😊
@anesthesiadreamin5 ай бұрын
@@moejr14If I have enough space to haul them inflated (like the back of the truck bed) i inflate at home using my shop compressor, which is NOT recommended but I haven't had any problems using compressed air, I just stick the nozzle of the blow gun into the fill/drain hole, it is not a tight fit by any means so low risk of popping it IMHO. Otherwise, if we're taking an SUV where there is no space to haul them inflated, I use the usual intex 12 volt pump from Walmart and inflate them at the lake

First off, if the water is that cold look into neoprene waders, second the fish cat sits higher which greatly aids fly fishermen for casting and is of much higher quality. Not many tubes are compatible for stuffing in a backpack. They are the backpack, load the pockets put on the straps. Then carry your fins and booties by hand.

The wilderness lite is the backpacking tube given it has the packed size of a water bottle and weighs 3 lbs
