I’ve been incredibly lucky this year to have had the pleasure to film six separate trailed forager harvester outfits at work in the fields in and around Cumbria. Not so long ago considering they were classed as a dying breed it was fantastic to see so many still at work. They are as follows :-
NH T7.210/ Kongskilde FCT1260, MF 7720S/ JF FCT1050, McCormick X7.440/ JF FCT1060, MF 5713S/MF 630, Ford 8240 Turbo/ NH719, MF7614/ JF FCT850. Filmed in Cumbria May- July 2022.

Another great video Dave. Love seeing trailers on the back of the harvesters. Those fords are pristine.

Thanks once again Kieran. Yes still a few farms in my area that tow the trailer behind and have done so for as long as I can remember! Yeh the Fords are beautiful, the owner also has a 6600 that looks almost like new. Hoping to also see a TW15 driving a NH forager at the same farm this year, fingers crossed! Cheers, Dave.

Yes great to see so many farm owned machines still harvesting the silage crop. I know of at least a couple more working in the area and hopefully will catch up with those in the 2023 season. Would love to see a Claas, Reco Mengele, Tarrup, John Deere drag if there are any working up in Cumbria?? Pleased you enjoyed the video and it’s really appreciated you’ve taken the time to watch and comment. Cheers, David.

Great video and good memories from yesteryear when we had a contractor come in to do our silage. . He had a ih 956 which used to purr on the chopper . Would have liked to have heard the tw15 that you mentioned in another comment as was my favourite tractor to use on the estate when I moved south to West Sussex .

Now that I would have liked to see Alan! Can’t be anything much better than watching and listening to an IH 956 (was it 2wd or 4wd?) driving a trailed forager. Pure music to a machinery enthusiasts ears! It was disappointing not to film the TW15 on the NH trailed forager this year but hopefully all will be good for 2023 and I will definitely be posting a video when that happens. Great comment, whereabouts were you before you moved further down South? I guess that must have been late 80s/ early 90s?

Top class videos David! No annoying music & no annoying adverts! Nice to see so many different drag outfits it makes a nice change from the modern day mundane self propelled large scale contracting set ups . Many thanks for posting! Ps looks like one of the new Holland 550’s had had some issues in the back ground and another one was brought out?

Many thanks, pleased you enjoyed it. I’m like you in preferring to hear the machinery working as it would in the fields. I myself was surprised to see so many trailed outfits in action this year and there were at least a couple more working in the area that hopefully I’ll catch up with next year. Yes lots of contractors self propelled machines out so great to see farmers still harvesting their own silage crop. You’ve got eagle eyes, the issue wasn’t actually with the NH 550, it was a pto problem with the Ford TW15 that was going to be partnered with it so with any luck 🤞next year I’ll catch that and the 8240 working in tandem! Many thanks for watching and the great comment, cheers David

JF now under CNH don’t know if they stopped production but push the NH 240. About half the capacity at best. Own a 1355, sad if they drop these.

Hi Alfred. That’s interesting about the NH 240 forager, I didn’t even know about this model so have just looked it up! Are you based in the States by my guess? I knew about the CNH takeover of JF and in the UK we have the Kongskilde brand which sadly is the only manufacturer selling new machines in the country. The 1355 is a fabulous machine, I saw one working on a local farm a few years ago behind a 250hp NH T7040 and it was magnificent with a huge appetite for grass, only wish I could have caught it on video but have some great photos to remind me of it. Many thanks for watching and your comment, great info. Much appreciated, cheers David.

The drawbar set up on the Jf is because the header is wider so goes up over the top to keep transport width down
