The amount of work you do is definitely not always appreciated by all, but just know there are guys out there like myself who understand and appreciate it! Filming everything and building then editing is a daunting task sometimes. Trying to do all of it will wear on you and your sleep, it's the only reason I don't youtube much of what I do anymore.

As a trans builder (manuals) i can 100% vouch for the insane editing effort needed for transmission build videos. Ive made a few that just never even got shared, its hard to dedicate the time. Thanks for doin what you do 🤘🏼

Josh you make these transmission rebuilds look so easy. I just finished up my first build a few months ago and now I've gotta take it back out because my case cracked along the bore for the neutral safety switch, this is after I dropped the pan and put 4 helicoils in. Hoping I can make this next attempt as easy as you make it look. I pretty much used your build videos as a my main reference and the ATSG as a secondary source. I know it probably sounds corny but your videos inspire me to get out in the garage and to get to work, might just go ahead and pull this transmission next weekend.

I have a second gear band that started slipping burned up the fluid got the tranny hot three four times. And it still holds under light load. Getting ready to through a remanufactured 48re in behind it I have not got time to build my own at this time sucks. Plus parts are a bit hard to get in less than a week I got to have the truck for hauling hay. 🥴

I am also in the process of rebuilding my 48re using your videos. So much appreciated. One question though. How do I tell if I have a 48 re pump in it? It has been rebuilt in the past and I want to be sure the builder put the correct pump back in it.

Ok, so alot of rebuilders use the thick (.215) od pressure plate. Even georend sends it in there kits but uses the thinner frictions to get 6. The theory behind it is the stepped plate cracks. My personal experience is i've only cracks after being overheated from slippage. So it has a .215 plate a quick trip to lathe. Use thin frics. I can get 7. But it takes a lottle argueing with it first😊
@horsetorquesdiesel
@horsetorquesdiesel Жыл бұрын
It should be a .278 plate as that’s what is factory then you machine it down to .200 on the snap ring surfaces. But you can use a full reaction and get 7 thins in there. Do it often no lathe required. The argument is they crack at high line pressure I have broken 2 at 225+

With out yours and lavons video i would of never been able to rebuild my 48 . Ive reposted them on the forums when asked . They are great . Josh is it my imagination or does it take alot of force to put the overdrive housing over the intermediate shaft if you change out the case bearing. i was worried and surprised it was so stiff at first.
