I have a major problem with the 2016 Cummins. It has ruined my music listening because every time I drive it I end up listening to the engine's beautiful sound. Can't wait to hit a million miles with it. Too bad I only drive 20k a year and it will take 50 years at that rate. Freaking engine will probably outlive me.

I understand that this engine failed at 22,396 miles. It was sold at a Dodge dealership in Akron Ohio. The turbo failed twice and the third piston broke the crank on the final repair. The engine was sent back to Cummins for evaluation. Rumor is the owner would pull a 32,000 pound RV in a one ton Dually. He would not allow the turbo to pre cool after pulling and just shut it down. He also would do cold starts and take off as if it was heated. He also installed a performance chip to increase the towing capacity. What a shame! Great engine went to the scrap yard due to inexperienced operation

running the 2,000,000th engine's ESN through the Cummins QuickServMobile app reveals that this engine was NEVER installed into a truck; because if it were installed into a Ram, it would also reveal the VIN number of the truck it was installed into, and that portion of the dataplate for ESN 58226569 is completely blank.

Love my '01 cummins. And btw i work on the big highway rigs. They do have inline six cylinders almost exclusively. The inline 6 is an industrial setup, it provides superior torque to fuel economy ratios and reliability. How many duramax or powerstrokes to you know that have gone 1,000,000mi without a rebuild? With a cummins its considered normal. In fact the truck itself will fall apart half a dozen times before the engine ever misses a beat.

I have a feeling this engine(ESN# 58226569) never left Indiana; because I plugged both this ESN and Rexford's ESN into the Cummins Quickserve Mobile app; and Rexford's ESN gives me the VIN number of the 2012 Ram 2500 crew cab it was installed in, as well as the day the warranty started for Rexford's engine (10 days after the engine left CMEP). the 2 millionth engine doesn't have a Chrysler Group VIN or Warranty start date; so I bet that engine is gathering dust either at the CMEP plant, or at Cummins HQ.

Just purchased a 2013 Ram 3500 in July. Although it is a very nice truck and I am sure the cummins will probably outlast the truck, the duramax/allison combination is still king for towing performance. Unless you have had both, you wont understand.
@dundonrl5 жыл бұрын
I don't agree.. KING of towing with a pickup is a Cummins (or any other diesel) with a 6 speed manual and dual disc clutch. Mine is a 12 Ram 2500 with 6.7 Cummins, G56 6 speed, Centerforce Dual disk and 3.73 gears. So far there's nothing it can't better than the company pickups (2018 Ram 2500 Cummins and auto, 2017 Silverado Duramax and Allison and 2019 F250 6.7 Power Stroke and auto)
