This looked very humane, and that rabbit was so chill. I actually love that you pointed out how to check for death with the eyeball, great for peace of mind for a beginner like me.

I’m working on desensitizing myself for meat rabbits... I have such a big heart for animals I may have to hire out my meat pen processing! But I do like the explanation and detail you are providing. Will definitely check out the next parts too

I completely understand. As I stated in the video, I had already processed two rabbits. Before the first one, I am usually an emotional wreck! But, it gives me time to reflect and be more thankful for the food I do have and raise on our homestead. Thanks for watching!

Im the same way. Im a lover of all things furry and adorable. Ive eaten meat all my life and yet....it never "had a face" for me. Im trying to be as informed as possible. Some of the other similar videos ive watched have npt shown the deed itself and while i felt better about that, im realizing if I dont get it in gear Ill have 50 chickens and 20 rabbits as pets that I can't afford to feed lol. Not to mention we'll likely starve lol. So i appreciate the video and all the "heres what to expect".

I watched the guy who makes the Hopper Popper and he stretched the rabbit by pulling it at almost a 90 degree angle. I'm just wondering if it makes a difference if you pull straight down or more at an angle?
@IndependenceAcresHomestead4 жыл бұрын
The Hopper Popper can be used at many angles very effectively. Some will mount it low and lift up, some at waist level and pull back. We have found that at this height and angle, most anyone, no matter strength or age, can use the tool.

This is very well done. The dispatch was quick and humane.I have been watching your playlist and find it very thorough but not too verbose.

Hi Jeremy. This morning I went to process a couple of rabbits and had a very bad experience. In fact, I have been suspect of the Hopper Popper for the last several dispatches. My rabbits were not dying in the popper. A botched dispatch is a very horrible expience, to say the least. I have had success with it in the past but lately it has not been good. I honestly have been doubting if processing rabbits was for me. I have been using the Hopper Popper as demo'd on the Hopper Popper website. They have it waist high and pull at a 180 degree angle. This does not consistently work for me. I found another KZbinr that uses the choker chain method. It was quick and very successful. I thought about switching to that method. in fact, today I went out and bought a choker chain. THEN, after coming home and doing a little more research, I came across your video. Your method is exactly like hers but with the Hopper Popper. By having the popper high and pulling down, you get a more consistent (and humane) seperation. You have saved my processing future and my conscience by posting this video. Thank you.

Thank you for letting me know. I really do prefer to have it high and be able to use my body weight and gravity to my advantage. Having it any lower requires more exertion and stress on my body. The higher position makes it much more accessible for people of less upper body strength, those with back issues, or arthritis. I suffer with the last two and while attempting the chock chain method I found it to be more jarring to my hands and shoulders. The Hopper Popper up high gives a strong consistent pull. Please let me know how things go in the future.

The thing is … the popper … literally leaves them thinking .. releasing adrenaline.. as opposed to shooting and head smashing … then hanging him so the blood pools to the head…. A lot more humane .
